The Step Study will be back soon; update on me
I haven't been here much lately, and I apologize for our on-line step study that crashed & burned at the end of January at Step 4.
On January 29, I was laid off from my job. I didn't see it coming, and it was a huge blow. I'm single and am just getting back on my feet after life events... However, my mom had been in the hospital for a few weeks, so I was able to go and spend time with her. I got there on Friday evening and was able to share a pizza with her in the hospital. She sat up in bed, laughing and talking, hoping to go home that weekend. Her condition took a BIG turn for the worse, and she died a week later on Feb 7.
Once again, my Higher Power did for me what I couldn't do for myself. I was able to spend that last week with my mom instead of working 15 hour days getting ready for a big trade show the following week. Blessings really do come in strangely wrapped packages.
We did 2 memorial services, one in the town where she had moved and where she died, and the other here where I live, in the town where she and my dad lived for 40 yrs. It's all done now, and I hope to be able to be back here soon.
Keep on the look out for a recap of the first 4 steps and information on Step 5.
Hugs to all... you hold me up when I need it the most.

(((Cats))) I'm so sorry to hear of the losses in your life, but I admire you for moving through the difficult times with grace and dedication to your recovery. That's an inspiration to me. As the son of an elderly man who struggles with heart problems, I know my day will come to deal with these things too.
Thank you for sharing about your life, please keep us updated.

CatsPajamas, please accept my condolences. Your mom is now taking care of you from above and it will be a matter of time (hopefully a lot of time) before you two reunite again.
Don't worry about the step study, I am struggling in Step 1 and will be there for years or decades it seems.. so your threads are greatly appreciated but of course take your time and know we are thinking of you ((((Cats)))))))

Dear Cats,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. How fortunate it was that you were able to spend some happy times with her near the end. I agree that HP had a hand in this.
I hope that you are finding ways to support and care for yourself. I also am a member of the club nobody wants to belong to (motherless daughters). I will be thinking of you and sending you my support and love.
Hugs,
luka3

Cats, you are an inspiration to me. I'm sorry about your mom's death, but if ever there was a way to do it "right", it sounds like you two found it. Perfect example of your HP having a beautiful plan for you that came in a strange-looking package...
Please know we're always here for you if you need anything....

HP so kindly cleared your schedule so you could be exactly where you needed to, exactly when you needed to. gives me goosebumps.
Me too. Sorry Cats, glad you had the good week. What a gift.
Thanks and God bless us all,
Coyote

((((Cats))) - your post gave me goosebumps, too.
I'm so glad that you got to spend some special time with your mom.
Your post is such a good reminder that HP really does have a plan for us, and even things that seem bad, at the time, often come with blessings.
Hugs and prayers!
Amy

Cats, I'm so sorry for your loss.
It is amazing to me though, how ones HP seems to step in and know what we will need at that time. I'm glad you got to spend a lot of time with her, as that is what will REALLY be important to you in the years to come.

So sorry for your loss. I truly believe God works wonders. I was given time to be with my mother that I thought I would never have and she died unexpectedly and I was very grateful for the time I was given.
Blessings to you and your family. I was moved by your post.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad a few years ago, and I feel your pain of losing a parent. I'm glad your higher power was there to help you have some quality time one-on-one with your mom before her passing. It sounds like you are handling all of the grief - from your job to your mom - with such grace. My thoughts are with you.
