I am blessed
As I awakened this morning I heard the sound of birds chirping outside my window, and the sun shining through brightening my bedroom. These two simple pleasures put a great big smile upon my face. I can’t describe in words how blessed I am to be sober. I will not forget this day anytime soon, in fact I will remember this morning forever. I have a sense of calmness inside of me that gives my heart, body and mind great freedom. I am alive in a body that is not polluted by alcohol; in return my heart, mind and soul have escaped from the demons hold on me.
Thank you God for giving me this blessed day!

I love the days, when I am able to see all the blessing that my recovery has given me, and SR, and the friends I've made here, is a huge one of them.

Well said. I can so identify with those feelings.
It's such a switch from when we were drinking and using and these sounds of the morning and the sun shining in were met with anger. . . anger from being hungover and also just being alive. I remember when I didn't want to ever wake up again, I was in such pain in my addiction. And now, I can't wait to see what the next day brings.
You expressed your joy and gratitude so beautifully and I thank you for sharing that with us on your special day.
