OT - codie challenge

I've been beating my brains out on this so I thought I'd bring it to the experts
My daughter was "given" a mobile home to refurbish. She and her BF called in help and managed to gut the thing and make it home. My contribution was a Lowes credit card, they got free help and managed to keep it at a reasonable amount. It is now their "home" (new flooring, plumbing, carpet, walls, just about everything.)
So... as a house warming, I told her I would "dress up" the kitchen and I did (the miserly me did it for under $50 bucks) the window blinds, a valance, table cloth, place mats, etc.
Its looks beautiful.
BUT...
Here's the challenge:
Above the window (picture a wall to wall window in a mobile home) there is a bulk head that she desperately needs to store "dry goods" (cereal and the like)
SO...
Any ideas on how to hide this?
Its about 14ft width, maybe 2 ft or so length.
I KNOW you would LOVE to solve this so...suggestions?

Could some kind of curtain be made to hang in front something to match the valance? Maybe something that from the inside just looks like part of the window.

Can you partition it with wooden blocks and then put little curtains made from some cool cloth (like Celtic knots or Indian design or even some neat old scarfs)?

I'm picturing this as something open...maybe it isn't

Guess My Joey and I were thinking the same sorta thing at the same time, lol. The reason I said wood partitions was 14 feet would be kinda long to have to move to get to the stuff, btw.

OK..to make it better understood:
The width is about 14 ft., depth is about 1.5 ft. It's above the windows, like cubby, but if she doesn't cover it, it really distracts from her beautiful kitchen ( hence the codie reference since "I" put the kitchen theme together )
But I thought we could have some fun with this

I'm a bit challenged when I try to visualize this---okay, I'm very challenged!
It's a space over the window that is 14 feet across and from the window top to the ceiling is 2 feet high? It's a recessed area?

Pretty baskets or plastic containers lined in a row?
Lazy Susans inside and enclose it with a series of sliding panels (3 or 4) on a multitrack system- this way it could be accessed easily and some doors could be left open to display things if she wants to. The panels could be made of almost anything that is thin but sturdy.

My kitchen is still circa 1950 (and yes my counter tops have red linoleum on them) so I have no thoughts to offer except my prayers Hugs, Marle

I like cynicals idea - especially since she provided graphics!

curtains would be easy - but if her home is anything like mine the curtains will always be open. i have a cubbord door like that which is a huge irritation to me becuase its always open. at least once a day i see all my cans and boxes and curse that spot in my kitchen. Can ANYONE shut the doors after they take something out!!!!!!!!!!!

cece - anychance of sending a photo of the problem spot?

Wow, some great ideas!
I'm pretty handy with the tools so I may just try the hinged doors (thanks Cynical One! graphics included! ) I was thinking though of lattice inside the frame.
Meanwhile daughter knows I eat this stuff up

Wow CO - I like that Idea! I don't have a bulkhead but I'm thinking now of how cool that would look to put in the center part of my cabinet doors instead of the plain wood that's there now. I loved punched copper.

Velcro.

Make drapes that are already bunched at the top, put a Velcro strip, or 3 strips, at top of bulkhead, then apply the Velcro to the 3 or 4 drape material.

Easy to rip off to use the storage, or you could probably leave the drapes dangle when you open it up.

Easy to reapply.
AND cheap.

Another question, and idea.

If the mobile home isn't really going to be MOBILE:

take off the doors on the bulkhead, trim it like a picture frame, and place the creal and stuff up there, like open cupboards I have in Camp.

Also...(my head is spinning this a.m.)

If it is 2 feet high, she could put shelving in the and actually have storage area with 2 shelves!

Like a pantry.
