My beautiful little girl..

..who is only three and so has no concept of alcohol - at least not in our adult way, said the most wonderful thing to me today - she just looked straight at me and said 'mummy, your eyes are all sparkly' Ok she's 3 and loves me but I know that, after 19 days, my eyes are 'sparkly' again. I need to hold on to that moment.

Nice share Cool. It is moments like that that make it all worthwhile. If it was me I probably would have cried.

That is beautiful. YOur daughter is very perceptive, no matter her age.

A mental moment to save, for sure!

You brought tears to my eyes.

My daughter is 2 yrs 8 mos and I've been drunk or high for more than 1/2 the time she's been alive.

That honest soul chose me to be her mother, now I just have to be present for her and for me.

Yes, hold on to that moment.

hugs.

children have a way of expressing feelings in such a wonderful way. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. I think your daughter gave you a wonderful complement.. sometimes when I look at old photos I can see the misery in the my eyes no matter how big the smile is, now even I can see a difference.

That is beautiful! After I had been clean for just a few weeks, my kids said I was nicer to be around and that meant the world to me!

There is your Aha. Right there. Every single time you want to pick up a drink, you need to remember that.

I drank for 30 years. I so wish I could go back to when my little girl was 3 and do things right.

Thank you for sharing.

Hold on tight to this memory ... they are soooo precious! And then...well, they grow up and before you know it there out the door! Enjoy every wonderful moment you have in her life (and yours)! It seems like "yesterday" when my kids were so young and innocent..... Now it's 20 and 21 years later! Love to all our children out there with us and not with us!

That really touched me.

You are so Blessed that she is young, and that more than likely, if you don't pick up again, she will have no memories whatsoever of when Mommy's eyes didn't sparkle. My Son was 16 when I got Clean & Sober. Although he says he has forgiven me, I know he will never forget.

Hold on to that.

God Bless and give her an extra kiss before you go to bed tonight.

Judy

I was thinking "soooo cool" when I read it & then saw your name

Now go out with your daughter & buy a sparkly ring for a finger on your drinking hand. Doesn't have to be expensive... just sparkly. So if you ever pick up a drink you will remember the sparkle.

I have been toying with the idea of getting a very small tattoo between my right thumb & index finger to remind me before I take a sip.... sounds silly typing that but whatever works I guess.:ghug2
