Morning of day 3
Morning of day 3
Morning all. I wanted to say that I've made it to day 3, report how I am, and what's going on.
I've got the results of my blood tests, and apparently the only thing that's of concern is... my cholesterol level! Hmm, an easy one to sort out, methinks. Also my blood pressure is still high, but I'm on medication for that and I'm going to be given a diet plan - how exciting, but at least it has a chance in hell now that I've stopped drinking. Also, my ECG was fine, so that's all good.
My wife's being really supportive now, even of my going to meetings - and I say "even" because at first she was very dubious about my attending AA. I'm not sure why. Anyway, as I say, she's already come around - even encouraging me to get to the meeting this afternoon...
Speaking of which, I'm going to go get a bath and get ready to go. The bath is because of the sweats, which are the worst thing for me. Last night was sleepless, despite me being tired, and today I'm feeling VERY shaky, and my head is slightly "dizzy" but that's not exactly the right word... something like that. But as I say, the worst thing is the sweats - it's constant, but it gets worse in waves, and five or six times a day I feel like I'm boiling up for about twenty minutes... then it passes.
In terms of anxiety and depression - well, I'm surprisingly ok. I almost don't want to admit it in case I jinx myself!! But... well, so far so good. The only thing I can put it down to? AA and SR. So, everybody, thanks so much, from the heart.

Right - off to the bath...!!!

Three days! Good for you BovinePB.
Hopefully the high blood pressure will fall by the wayside like mine did in sobriety. I had my blood pressure taken about two months into sobriety and was told I didn't need medication any longer.
Anyway, take care and congrats, you're on your way.

Good job bovine.
I take garlic pills to control my cholesterol and it seems to have done the trick. That and eating foods with olive oil. A twenyt minute walk a day and breathing exercises lowered my blood pressure to the point where it is now normal (120/80).
It sounds like you really want to do this so your success is almost for sure.

Thanks all for the support - and for the tips too! All very much appreciated.
I got to the meeting ok, which is my third now since Friday. The sweats do seem to have been a little better today... but I'm sooo tired. I just keep dozing and not really sleeping, but I can't focus on a damn thing. Drinking Lucozade but everything is starting to taste WEIRD - and Lucozade is pretty weird to start with! My tongue just won't seem to... I dunno, clean or something.
Anyway, sorry to disappoint but feeling too flaky for one of my usual long posts... LOL So, hope everyone keeps doing whatever it is you do that stops you drinking, and makes you happy.
