Picking myself up.....

and dusting myself off.

On day 2 again...... day 1 was difficult but I made it.
Today is a new day.... and im more determined to do it this time.
As was said here... i know the pit falls and what to expect/lookout for and the sneaky f**ker that is alcohol had better watch out this time.
As i've said im visiting my mum and since i could be honest with her she has been really good.
She went to a friends last night to drink and today she has gone to her line dancing.... i was meant to go but tonight and tomorrow is the night of the AA meetings here, so im off to that soon instead and my mum understands.

I have to say im abit nervous as i dont know anyone here and im just visiting... but needs must... i need some grounding and this is the place to do it.

Thanks again for the support ive found here. I hope you are all doing well.

Be well

You have support here louis. Keep getting up and dusting yourself off. I'm sure I've said it before...your worth the work it takes to put up the fight.

Hope I can be here on SR to help.

Peace

I went to my first (and only) meeting alone too. You'll be glad you went. Let us know how it goes!

I use both AA and SR ...works really well for me.

...Good to know you are on a fresh beginning.

Thank you guys.

Please excuse no direct thanks to comments... other than pressing the thanks button i dont know how to do that yet.

I went to the meeting and feel loads better for going. It was only a small meeting but i was able to share alittle.... (im no good in crowds).
It's snowing here and i was walking down the street thinking... this is a good excuse not to go... then i remembered what i had heard here and in other meetings.... about doing anything to get a drink....
and it true....
I would walk in torrential rain to get to the pub or off licence.....
See... im watching out for that sneaky mind of mine and it aint gonna stop me...
I was covered in snow and cold when i got there and home....
BUT I WAS THERE!!!!

Sorry... not wanting to seem boastful... im just alittle pleased with myself today...

IT WONT WIN.... not today and not tomorrow... but i will just be happy with not today for now.

Thanks for listening and support

Be well
louis

Hey Louis--
Good to see you again, Mate.
Boast away. It's those trophies--if you will--that you get to throw on the shelf to remind yourself that: "Yep--I made that meeting and didn't drink". The more victories you get--the more it reminds you that yes, you control what happens to you, and it was because of you following through with your commitment to your sobriety that makes it possible.
Thinking of you. Take good care.

Way to go Louis. I know this is hard for you so there is nothing wrong with a little bragging.
You don't let the alcohol push you around. You are the boss of it. You have the power to not take that first drink.
I am sure everyone else here is proud of you too. I know I am.

louis,

Keep up the good work and yes by all means boast away. We all need to feel good about the progress we are making.

Peace,
Ken

Oooohh, yesss...I think we all know something about that. And you're right: considering what I've done to get that drink, what I've gone through just for a sip/slam/blaster/whatever, one would think I'd be brave enough to do at least the same to stay sober...and I'm working on it, truly; and I'm SO glad you are, too! Covered in snow, you say....well done!!

You have every right to boast! It takes enormous courage to step forward in the manner you are doing. I am proud of you!

Justalittleone.

Hey... thanks and nice to meet you.

Thanks to everyone else too...
It's ok the boasting is over... had to curb it before i would only be able to get my big head through the door sideways.

Be well

Thanks for the welcomes. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the forums, chats, buttons and whatnot. I'm not used to using a computer for anything but work stuff (hardly even email), but here I am. I hope to be here often.
