Intro

Hello

I am joining this forum because I have a big alcohol problem. I binge drink heavily around four times a week. Once I start I won't stop until I have drunk all the alcohol available. I also smoke when I drink which makes the hangover twice as bad. I have been doing this for a few years. I am in my late twenties and have a beautiful 10 year old daughter and a good career, which I put at risk by being hungover. I am sick of the effect my drinking has on my life. It will ruin my health, costs a fortune and takes away my energy to spend as much time with my daughter as I would like. I am also horrible to my boyfriend when I am drunk.
My problem in stopping is that after a few days when the hangover has worn off I forget about how bad it was and drink again.
I'm hoping that by joining this forum I can log on every day to keep motivated.

Thanks!

Welcome! It is so nice not to wake up in the morning promising myself I won't drink that night, only to break that promise as every time. These forums helped me a lot, I'm glad you found us.

I can tell you I am in the same position and I decided my wife, family, career and overall life was way more important than the booze. The Binge drinking does more harm to the body than you can imagine. Take it from someone who was just in the hospital due to Pancreasitis caused by drinking.

Welcome to the forum and please know that we are all here for each other.

Welcome Hanelle

This is exactly the same problem that I have. When I drink I drink until it is all gone or the bartender cuts me off.
I am new to sobriety and it took me decades to admit that I am not a social drinker.
I missed a lot of my children's childhoods and this I regret terribly. Your daughter is still young so don't make the same mistake that I did. They do notice and it hurts them.
Quit right now and for good.

welcome hannelle.....you picked a great place to help you find your sobreity.

i have 9 days under my belt now and there is no way i could have done it without my s.r. friends and their encouragement.

what encourages me is how many what i would call young people have come to the realization that they have a problem. by young i mean in their 20's or early 30's.

many of us on here have fought the demon into our 40's before enough was enough. but to be truthful i never drank much in my 20's and 30's and didn't become a problem drinker until my early 40's.

i am so proud of you young people that are trying to make a commitment to not drink.

Hi and welcome.

When I came to this forum over 4 months ago, I was hopelessly addicted to nicotine and drinking excessively every day, sometimes even mixing booze with codeine and other pain pills such as perks and vicodins. Today, I can say I have not touched alcohol in over 4 months, and I am no longer addicted to nicotine, and I am no longer abusing pain pills.

You can get your life back too.
