Things I have done today.

To not drink.
1. I brewed some green tea with honey, and ate a banana for breakfast.
2. I took my dog for a walk at our usual time. We even walked by our neighborhood Mom n' Pop grocery store where our usual purchase was a 6 pack and a milk bone. We skipped both today.
3. I took the sheets, pillowcases off our bed and am "doing laundry".
4. I spent about 30 minutes with my gf over her lunch break, and had some more tea and watch a replay of a hockey game.
5. I am posting this prior to making a huge phone call to my mom.
The more people that know of my issues (including all of you), the more I feel I will let down if I fail. I realize that type of mentality can lead to a slippery slope of guilt if I do fail--but it is helping me today, and today is the most important day of my life so far.
6. I am staying close to this board/site as I have drawn a lot of strength to do these 5 small chores. Man--drinking sucks.

Good For you! Keep busy!
I still stay close here to keep me grounded & control the urge!

I made/drank an entire pot of coffe.
made cookies (NOT GOOD FOR THE DIET THOUGH)
Called my mom.
Stayed close to this site & the support I get here.
My daughter will be home soon & I will again be sober & able to talk to her about her day & help with any homework I can (although the older she gets the harder its getting for me!)

Stay Strong, Stay Sober!!

That's great to hear Wombat and ToABetterMe.

I think it's the small things that help to bring some sense of normalcy to our lives. I had lived in utter chaos for so long, it was absolutely heaven to be able to do the laundry and go to the grocery store.

Way to go, Wombat and TABM. I'm envious. I've had a really bad couple of days. All I've done today is sit on the couch and cry, and read here, looking for strength and hope.

I guess that is why we lean on each other? If my positive day can in any way influence a bad one for you--that is a victory in and of itself. Ugh, I've deleted at least three different cliched garbage "Chin up" type junk.
For lack of anything else--we're here.

I got up early this morning, took a shower and went grocery shopping. Did some dishes and made grilled turkey and cheese sandwiches for me and my gf before she went to work. Now I'm ready for a nap, lol...

Hey Wombat, I lived in Montana for 5 years. It really is the last best place...

Ok that was awesome.

I've been feeling scared, happy, sad, hopeful, scared again, shaky (but not the shakes :P ) etc today. It's a day of feelings.

I have :

Eaten things that are good for me

Called my girlfriend

made plans for a show

Made plans for a surprise party tonight for the guy who got me into AA

Well, I finally managed to quit crying (for the time being) and get dressed. I'm about to hit the really busy part of my day because my youngest will be home from school in 20 minutes and then we have to go do the carpool pickup from football practice (I get that 2 days a week). Then it will be time to help with homework, cook dinner, and deal with whatever (inevitable) hassles come up. I have a lot of stuff to help my little one with for school for next week. We still have time, but I don't want to leave it all to the last minute.

So I've wasted the day today, but my evening will definitely be busy and productive.

worked on numerous spreadsheets.

ate a free "grand slam" from denny's.

recovered some brain cells because the human body is a wonderful thing and will restore itself in spite of the damage we've inflicted. (to a degree)

last year when i quit drinking for 100 days i was taken off of my blood pressure medicine. as i swam deeper and deeper back into my drinking i could literally feel my blood pressure come back up. but being a man i refused to go back to the doc and go back on the meds.

that's one of the things i'm looking forward to is normal b.p.

And your sober, and there for your kids. When you look in their eyes you know you are doing the best you can for them. Have better night!

****TABM---way to go sister!

***Way to go Wombat..try not to think about failing though......you are doing great!! Baby steps.....hold on to the good stuff! But one thing concerns me, and I am sure your dog feels the same way......no milk bone today on the walk??????

***TryingSo Hard-- I am bummed you are crummin' the last couple days....any idea why? You are doing so well.....have you been getting yourself out or anything? Hopefully the bad feelings will subside.

*** Hey Doorknob, where in MT did you live?

***Lastly, Carol, you are my hero!!

She was mightily disappointed to be sure. But--her dad wasn't quite ready to tempt myself, I had left my wallet at home to be sure.

Doorknob: Western MT here-- love the hiking, and have had my own raft for the whitewater. Looking forward to experiencing it all w/o packing in booze.

Wild - I have friends in Bozeman. Visited there in 2007 (in the summer LOL!!!).

VC, I know exactly what's bugging me. My hubby and I are having some very serious issues right now. It's not fun. Thanks for the well wishes.

Speaking of Tea wombat,
Check this sight out for buying Tea.
It is on the high side but it is really good stuff.
Its not too high if you think it costs as much for a 5th of seagrams VO as it does for 50 tea bags---you can get 100 cups of tea out of the 50 bags.
Here it is:

The Republic of Tea - Leading Purveyor of Green Tea, Red Tea, White Tea, Black Tea, Oolong Tea and More.

Wow... this thread has really touched me. How hard we work to maintain our sobriety... what a fight this is. And good for all of us for fighting the fight... this is truly the hardest thing I have ever done. I feel blessed that I have the desire to quit... just think of all those that haven't made it as far as us... to the point of seeking out support.

Good luck to all of us.
