Wishing I had a friend

I just typed out a really long post and then re-read it and decided no one wants to hear that drivel. Suffice it to say I'm lonely and I wish I had a friend.

Here is my Hand

I so relate! My experience so far is that as I get clearer I attracted and am attract to people who become friends.

I get into trouble if I sit with it, so why not post some more, do some writing, phone some people, do you do meetings or have support in recovery?

Kevin

Thank you, Kevin.

As it's 1:40 a.m. where I am, I better NOT phone - or even text! - anyone right now! LOL I think I'm even annoying my husband with my typing, as he's trying to sleep next to me. Writing in my journal probably isn't a bad idea. I haven't done that in a while.

I do not have much support in recovery. That's part of my problem, I think. Only 3 people even know: my husband, my best friend, and one other close girl friend. My husband has lots of issues of his own, that I am just becoming aware of, that are a direct result of my drinking. So while he SUPPORTS me, I don't feel I can LEAN on him (if that makes sense). My best friend is not being a very good friend right now, and hasn't for months. She doesn't even ask me how it's going or how I'm doing. Instead she sends me texts telling me when she's going to get drunk. I haven't been to an AA meeting since October 1.

SR's all I've got for recovery support right now, and my friend list is lookin' pretty grim. Hence the loneliness.

OK so why not do AA or SMART or one of the other recovery programs. I can tell you have nothing to loose and as they if you want to leave you can pick up exactly where you left off.

Try for 90 days, but put as much effort into as you did into drinking and then after 90 days see how you feel.

I wish we had SMART around here. In a city of 800,000 people you'd think it would be an option, but nope. That's the Bible Belt for ya, I guess.

I've been thinking about going back to AA, if only for the fellowship, for a few weeks but I haven't done it yet. Not sure why.

Sounds good do some AA and check out the online SMART Meetings and forums. Maybe in a few months you can start a SMART group

I beleive that all these prgrams work if we actually put all of ourselves in them.

Yeah I think I got it, but that means we have to take some action other than the action we used to take nd then many things happen in our lives.

SMART Recovery - a non-religious, non-12 step program. That's not available in my area. LOL

I know how you feel too.
Unfortunately most of my few real friends I have live in other states. Either that or they are still in the lifestyle and I cant be around that even if I was close to them. They would never text me sayin they were partying knowing I was trying to stay clean. That is just wrong. I guess thats not much of a friend.
I have lots of family tho. But none of them really understand.
Still not into meetings and dont plan on even trying it again. I just need normal non addicted non recovery friends. Just normal. Whatever that is.

This is so true--taking action.....it helps get you out of yourself so to speak.

I think it is human to feel alone. I am out in Montana, no husband and no family here, it's me, myself and I. So you bet it gets lonely....I want somebody to share with. Like the above quote, I think we need to go get what we need. Some non-drinking friends to add to your list sounds like a great idea. Until then, try and look at the good things going on with you!! Go treat yourself to a massage! Go take a yoga class.......do something nice for you.

You seem like the kind of gal that when she reaches out, people respond! You can do it......and you will always, always have US!!

Take your left arm and put it on your right shoulder.....now take you right arm and put it on your left shoulder.........now SQUEEEEZE......that's from me.
