Wink Thank you

Thank you all for being here. I'm on day 4 and you are the only people I've found that I can't convince that I can have just a couple beers today.

I wish I was one of those people that could have a couple of beers but unfortunately I am not. I tried that a few...... hundred times and a couple always meant 10-20 so I know I can't have that first one.
Some people can moderate and if you are one of those that is great and I support you 100%.
We are here for you either way.
If moderating doesn't work for you as it hasn't for some of us we are also here to help in your efforts to quit.

Actually, I feel relieved. Going to that 1st meeting changed something. Just 2 weeks ago I said I'd never go to AA and I'd be aggravated if someone mentioned it. But something just clicked. I would have used Superbowl Sunday as a reason to drink, even though I hate football. I would even watch the game if it helped me justify my drinking. Being an alcoholic vegan somehow sounds hypocritical. I admitted that the only person I was fooling was myself. I didn't want my teenagers to see me drunk every night.

Good for you Mamabin!!! Glad you've found recovery and SR. It certainly has helped me stay on the straight and narrow.

Congratulations on the few days without. I am curious though what makes you hate football?

I guess I just find it boring. And every time my husband has tried to teach me the rules I find myself not listening. I'm a Red Sox fan. Which reminds me that baseball games will no longer be an excuse to drink!

I meant that I can't just have a few. But I used to try to convince myself I could. I used to say that beer should come in 8 packs and then I found out that 12 packs were better. I wonder how many calories I'm saving.

I find it hard to learn new habits. I find it hard to lose old patterns of behavior. But I'm proud of myself when I succeed.
