The best 2 years of my life...
hi all...i am posting this in the newcomers forum for two reasons...
#1 to let you all know that sobriety can be done...and i am living proof! today marks two years for me!!
#2 that sobriety is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me...save the birth of my daughter! who knew that life could be so great!
having said both of those i will also share with you that while the past two years in sobriety have not been a cake walk..i've had to deal with the fall out of my major financial irresponsibility, several deaths, major illnesses, etc...etc....
i know that i can handle anything that comes my way in this life as long as i am sober and able to make conscious, rational decisions! you've heard the saying my worst day sober in no way compares to my best day drunk...that about sums it up!!
stay on this sober journey and you too will be amazed! feeling a tremendous amount of gratitude today!!
Big hugs and prayers for you all!!
Lisa

thank you all!!
wonky....tips for success...hmmmm
i guess number 1 would be honesty....complete and total honesty with myself and others! in the beginning i had to tell myself...i am an alcoholic and i will not drink today...said it every day...heck still do!
and i always remember my last drunk..the horrific, terrifying night that got me into the rooms of aa and have kept my butt there!
as i have said...it's not easy..in fact sobriety can be damn hard because for this alkie i had built up the walls of denial and deceit so high i didn't know there was another side to life! i now do and will do anything and everything to hold on to it! make your sobriety the #1 thing in your life...and i do mean #1..i know without it i wouldn't have everything else!
Peace!
