Could this be day #1?
Could this be day #1?
Well, here I am. Sunday morning. Almost noon. Had a day yesterday, and although I drank I do not feel bad this morning. I feel like I am being given a window of opportunity to make this day one. I am cooking a big breakfast and would kill for a mamosa, but after hanging out here yesterday, all of you have inspired me. Maybe I will give this a try.......I am not alone and you all showed me that. Thanks. Wish me luck.
Any day is a good time to stop drinking. I'm on day one (again) myself and wanting to do it right this time.
Stop drinking today. Make today Day One. We can stop drinking together.

Any day is a good day to stop drinking. I heard a great sermon yesterday about Now or Never. Live each day now and dont worry about yesterday or tomorrow. Great concept.
Good luck on today vc. LOL

Hi,
I am so glad to hear that you made this decision.
The fact that you have been inspired by reading posts here is not surprising at all. This place is amazing!
Let us know how your day went.

It's been 4 hours since I got up today. It's a miracle I have not had anything to drink yet although I have to admit that I am very tempted. Then I feel that weird feeling around the liver area and realize I have to do this. Please keep checking on me!

Please go read the first sticky post in our Alcoholism Forum.
To be safe...you may need a medical de tox.
You can call your local EMT service and or go to an ER
if your doctor is not available.
Please keep posting...Best wishes
It's time to change!

VC...
Welcome and congrats on Day 1! This is the sh** disease, isn't! No magic wand. No "poof" and the obsession of alcohol is removed and we are cured! We need to find a new set of rules and tools in our lives to combat this demon.... most importantly, we don't do it on our own! If willpower was enough then I'd have years of sobriety under my belt right now. But the truth is, alcohol: Cunning, baffling & powerful! Without help (support) it is too much for us! (This is something paraphrased).
As someone said earlier, Day 1 is better than Day 0! You're in the solution by NOT picking up that drink, posting, reading & reaching out here, etc... So glad you're back! I had enough arrows in my a** recently and decided I'm just so sick of getting beat up by the drink! Have had many 1 days, but I realize I don't have to have anymore ever again unless I choose to!
Glad you're here and with us! :ghug3

Good luck VC, hang in there...don't worry about how the hell you're going to do this the rest of your life or even tomorrow, just take care of the next hour, one at a time...I'm ending Day 4 right now and it's still very, very, very hard with the urges, but every day gets a little less tough...

Hi VC and welcome to the SR family!
I found the information in this SR link helpful:

"Under the Influence" helped me understand how every part of my body was addicted to alcohol. I realized alcohol was stealing my life and I wanted more for myself and my family.
Keep reading and posting. We are here to support you.
