Little things
Little things
Everyone,
I am starting this post to see how many of us while we are sober, notice what I like to call "Little Things." For example, today I noticed:
1. I smile a lot more
2. I say hello to people when I pass them in the office
3. I slow up to let people change lanes infront of me on the highway
4. I allow people to pull out in front of me if we are at a light and they are trying to get into traffic
5. I laugh a lot easier and find things funnier
I believe we all can share some of these little things and some might even put a smile on eachother's faces as we yet again see how alike we all are.
Thanks

Great thread! Thank you!
* My memory isn't as bad as I thought it was. I remember a lot more stuff sober!
* I have more patience.
Hmm, I need to focus on this topic some more. I'll get back to you.

You will continue to notice those little things
as the fog clears from the brain. Your eyes are
brighter and wide open. Your senses will notices
smells of the flowers, food, air, wind, rain, fragrances,
leather... a new baby.
Colors are more vivid. Brighter. Cheerful.
Maybe that limp I am now having is due
to my leg being longer than the other and
im just now noticing it . And here I am
at 18 yrs sober....lol
What has been there all along but never noticed
due to the numbness of drugs or alcohol.
It's amazing about this journey we are on is we
are always surprised by the unexpected.
It's keeps the journey interesting and fun.
Thanks for letting me share.

Good thread!
I was actually thinking of this concept earlier as I was on my way to work today...I'm always deep in thought while driving.
...I don't feel the need to eat fattening greasy foods to cure that hangover feeling.
...I'm a hell of a lot more pleasant of a person, not irritable
...I'm MOTIVATED at work.
There's lots more, those are just a few that come to mind at the moment.

* my joints ache less
* The taste in my mouth is sweeter
* Food tastes better
* Sex is more fun and more frequent (= better)
* I am saving money
Oh my gosh - this is with only 10 days! But each day I feel these things in my life and I know it is because I am not drinking.

Love this idea...
This sounds outrageous on 1/20/09 but....
- Today I'm putting away all the Christmas ornaments, decor... etc.
- Today I called back a prospective client
- Today I reached out to two friends
- Today I'm praying a lot
- Today I'm noticing how blue the sky is
- Today I commited to going to a meeting with my sponsor
Sounds corney, I know. These things are milestones to where I was a week ago! Keep posting, I love this!

I like this thread as well. We all should stop for a second and appreciate.
I gave today to help a man who lost his pregnant wife, 2 sons in a house fire. I feel like I didnot give enough. :praying

Ditto on the great thread idea!
I found my comfy armchair again, and novels to read in it. (I had stopped reading when it got to the worst stages...)
I laugh until I cry. (Hasn't happened for years....)
I discovered how silly I truly am, and it makes me laugh.
I can go into a coffee shop, order coffee, look around at the decor and love being right there, in that place, at that moment. And think the first sip of coffee is heavenly.
(Never happened when drunk....too hungover for any of that, especially the coffee...)
I don't cringe looking at my face in the mirror in the morning.

Well nice thread for sure.
1. I don't need to apologize for my actions when i am drunk, stupid and irate.
2. I don't need to throw up anymore sunday mornings.
3. I don't need to ask people, pay cab fair for rides.
4. I have more money in my pocket.
5. My workouts at the gym are solid without any hangover feelings.

Thank you all for participating in this thread. I hope every day we can all put a few more "little things" that have brought a smile to our faces on here.
Good Night
Good Night
Both my girlfriend and I have recently got sober. I am finding I have loads more stamina while climbing mountains. My girlfriend is now free to walk the street without fearing a grand mal seizure.
since my on-again-off-again and I quit we have put new carpet, a couch and curtains in the living room. Its the first nice thing we have ever done on that scale for our home since moving in together some 18 years ago. . . Looks nice =)
