What about the kids?
When is my Mom coming back?
A poem dedicated to children of mothers in rehab
For my nephew Jaykub, who loves and cares for his 2 little sisters every day
Hush little baby, don’t say a word
Life isn’t like the fairy tales you’ve heard
Bedtime stories and lullabies
Make believe and all the little lies
Chasing clouds and rainbow dreams
Time slipped quickly through the seams
She sits in a tower of reality now
Wondering why, but knowing how
She’s lost her way on that yellow brick road
Numb to the truth of the lies she’s told
Never meant to hurt you or let you down
Please God help turn her life around
Shine little light with all that you are
Pray for her and wish on every star
People make mistakes and lose their way
But you be brave no matter come what may
You stay strong for those little eyes
Which look to you now for her alibis
She can’t go back to undo the pain
But soon she will be what she once was again
Live for now and what tomorrow can bring
When you loose your way, just try to sing;
Hush little baby don’t you cry
Mama’s getting better. . . and you are the reason why.

Wow! How profoundly moving! Thank you so much. I will be keepng this. I am a mom who has 3 kids. And my oldest did the same thing for her sister and brother. I have 3 plus years clean and it still weighs heavy on what I did to my kids. Even after all thes years I am still trying to be everything I need to be.
