2 days down, a life time to go...

Well, I am back to day 2 and feeling pretty good. Yesterday, when I had my intake for the outpatient program, the counsler made a pretty interesting point. He told me that I had basically been in a "relationship" with drinking for the last 9 years. He said that it was going to be like breaking up with a boyfriend...hard and painful, but something that in time would become easier. I never really thought of it that way.

Kick that boyfriend to the curb sister. He never loved you and if you take him back he will only hurt you again. I hate giving relationship advice but in this case I will take a chance since I was with his sister. At least I think it was the sister, might have been him in drag I was drubk at the time.

... or like looking back at old fashion choices. Someday I hope to be able to really look back at my drinking and think of much of it the way I now regard old styles. Do I ever want to go back to an era when I thought this guy was the epitome of cool?:

To early to tell, but I sure hope alcohol will appear just as foolish someday, down the road.

Good to see you seemethrough

I posted today about that very topic. I was having an affair with the bottle big time. He looks good, smells familiar and comforting, he makes me feel good for a while but then....... He LIES. He makes me feel like he loves me but then he beats me up on the inside. He doesn't care that he makes me lose work and he takes my money and leaves me broke. He doesn't care if he leaves me lonely and desparate. I would do anything for him but...
he just makes me sick because the more I want him the more he screws me over. Yeah it is like that. Keep that analogy/thought.

He's a cheatin liar and you deserve better :ghug3

Wow, sounds overwhelming when you put it like that! Try doing it a day at a time, it works.

Welcome! It's good to see you here! This is great place!

I love the boyfriend-analogy btw, I never thought of it that way.
