OT-prayers for my beloved dog Annie

We think that Annie had a stroke last night. She will be 14 soon and has had a good life. There is no more dignified lady than she. We will be taking her to the vets soon. My husband does not want to spend a bunch of money since he is unemployed. So maybe you could say a prayer for her that she can recover from this and if there is not a lot of hope for recovery, that I can let her go. Hugs and thanks, Marle

God bless you and your dog, as a dog lover, and owner of a beautiful St.Bernard pup, and a 9yrs old (fattie!!! lol) Norweigian Elkhound, I know how hard it can be to loose/or see a dog sick....

They are always there for us when the rest of the world fails us.....
God Bless and take care,
Cessy

Prayers for Annie. Hoping for the best. I also know how hard to it to have a sick dog or to have to loose one. My lab/rot has arthritis and barely gets around and it is heartbreaking.

Big hugs to you Marle.

Good news. Vestibular Peripheral Disease. It can mimic stroke but has a better outcome. It is an inflamation in the inner ear. So with some prednisone and some pills to help with the dizziness, some supportive care and TLC she will live to see another Christmas. Thanks everyone. Hugs, Marle

Oh Marle! I'm so glad Annie will be able to enjoy another Xmas. It must have been a relief to get the diagnosis.

Hugs to all of you!

Same here. Sorry I was late but glad I was in time for the good news!

I truly believe that dogs are Gods way of teaching me unconditional love... (and that cats are my reminder that the world does NOT revolve around me.)

Oh Marle, I had thought of vestibular disease, but was afraid to say anything! Here's hoping the meds get her better soon!

Oh, and just to let you know, a common side of effect of the prednisone is increased appetite and thirst, and needing to urinate more too, so don't panic!

Freedom, My other female Brittany, Muffit, has rheumatoid arthritis and has been on prednisone for two years and she has a huge appetite so we have to watch her weight. She started the gross habit of eating feces soon after the prednisone. But she has to have it or she can't even walk. Annie can't get to the water bowl and so I give her small drinks of water and then carry her outside. My poor baby, she never was one to ask for a lot of attention, but she sure is loving the attention she is getting now Hugs, Marle

Then you are very familiar with the prednisone! Bless Annie's heart, and bless yours too! :ghug

I was going to ask if they were Brittany Spaniels (my eyes aren't so good these days with smaller pictures). One of our favorite clients at the vet clinic where I worked has Brittanys. They are a wonderful breed!

Give all your furbabies some extra ear scratches for me.

Gosh Marle, sorry I'm late on this and glad to hear she's going to be okay.

Some days I love dogs more than humans.

Some days I love dogs more than humans.
Today is one of those days for me.

TO: GOD
FROM: THE DOG

Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another?

Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?

Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the "Chrysler Eagle" the " Chrysler Beagle"?

Dear God: If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?

Dear God: We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?

Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.

Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? ...If there are, will I have to apologize?

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.

1 . I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.

2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.

3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.

4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.

5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.

7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello".

8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table .

9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.

10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.

11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.

12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.

P.S. Dear God: When I get to Heaven may I please have my testicles back?

Cats,
Thanks for the big smile this afternoon. The butt dragging thing is a big issue, ya know???

Marle,
So glad to hear the good news for Annie.
My dog Cooper had something very similar this past summer. (an inner ear infection) He was walking sideways into walls and falling 'up' the stairs and I was just so worried about him. A few days on his antibiotics and he was good as new again (well...except for the butt dragging thing I mentioned earlier).

Hugs to you and Annie...

Marle, happy hugs from me and Toby who, even though he is a cat, loves all animal lovers and even the odd special dog.

I`m so glad this wasn`t worse. Toby has used his 9 lives twice and his vet calls him his little `miracle cat`. My heart will break when his time comes, so just for today let`s enjoy our little furry friends.

Hugs

P.S. Tomorow Toby goes to rehab. I`m taking him to work for the day.
