What song describes how you feel?
Hey, all! It's been another rough day here in Michelle World. I was just sitting around, listening to music, and this song came up on my iPod. It made me cry, because it's exactly how I feel. So, please, share with me the title, artist, and lyrics to the song that best describes where you are in your recovery or how you feel! I'd love to see what you post!
Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
And no one knows
What it's like to be hated
To be fated to telling only lies
But my dreams they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what its like
To feel these feelings
Like i do, and i blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
But my dreams they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what its like
To be mistreated, to be defeated
Behind blue eyes
No one knows how to say
That they're sorry and don't worry
I'm not telling lies
But my dreams they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what its like
To be the bad man, to be the sad man
Behind blue eyes...

You rise, you fall, you're down, then you rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong
You rise, you fall, your down, then you rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong
Rise, fall, down, rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong
Rise, fall, down, rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong
Through black days
Through black nights
Through pitch black insights
Breaking your teeth on the hard life coming
Show your scars
Cutting your feet on the hard earth running
Show your scars
Breaking your life
Broken, beat and scarred
But we die hard
The dawn, the death, the fight to the final breath
What don't kill you make you more strong
The dawn, the death, the fight to the final breath
What don't kill you make you more strong
Dawn, death, fight, final breath
What don't kill you make you more strong
Dawn, death, fight, final breath
What don't kill you make you more strong
They scratched me
They scraped me
They cut and raped me
Breaking your teeth on the hard life coming
Show your scars
Cutting your feet on the hard earth running
Show your scars
Breaking your life
Broken, beat and scarred
But we die hard
Breaking your teeth on the hard life coming
Show your scars
Cutting your feet on the hard earth running
Show your scars
Braiding your soul in a hard luck story
Show your scars
Spilling your blood in a hot sun's glory
Show your scars
Breaking your life
Broken, beat and scarred
We die hard
We die hard
We die hard
So sorry you are feeling so blues hon. I have days like that too and they pretty much suck, but know you will have days like this during recovery too -

This is awesome! These are mine as of late!
(
This reminds me of my hubby who I lost this time of the year
it is a peppy song that keeps him in my heart always)

Runrig - Only the Brave Lyrics:
Twelve o'clock at night
Streets of many corners
The lunar river winds
Down the closes and the lanes
The night skips the sleeping years
And reawakes the memory
Takes me along the way
To the places of the heart
The days of summer came
Days of many heartache
Not to love is not to live
Not to live is not to feel no pain
So unlock this heart of stone
Teach me the ways of mystery
In the places where they say
Only the brave can walk alone
You took me through this town
And you took me to the moment
That makes angels lose their wings
And makes poets lose their wonder
But I have found in you
A love line pure and lasting
May your heart hold true
And your nights run long
Twelve o'clock at night
Streets of many corners
The lunar river winds
Down the closes and the lanes
The night skips the sleeping years
And reawakes the memory
Takes me along the way
To the places of the heart
The days of summer came
Days of many heartache
Not to love is not to live
Not to live is not to feel no pain
So unlock this heart of stone
Teach me the ways of mystery

Five Steps by The Davenports.
They play this song towards the end of Intervention when the subject agrees to go to treatment. The song is serious but hopeful, and always gets a few tears outta me, lol...

I don't really listen to country music but someone told me to listen to this song yesterday. I totally lost it when I heard it.
Walk a little straighter - Billy Cunningham
YouTube - Billy Currington - Walk A Little Straighter
I remember looking up
To look up to him
And I remember most the time
He wasn't there
I'd be waiting at the door
When he got home at night
He'd pass me by to go to pass out in his chair
And I'd say
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're swaying side to side
You're footsteps make me dizzy
And no matter how I try
I keep tripping and stumbling
If you'd look down here you'd see
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're leading me
He stumbled in the gym
On graduation day
And I couldn't help but feel
So ashamed
And I wasn't surprised a bit
When he didn't stay
He stumbled out before they called my name
And I thought
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're swaying side to side
It's not just me who's watching
you've caught everybody's eye
And you're tripping and stumbling
and even though I've turned 18
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're still leading me
The old mans still like he always was
But I love him anyway
If I've learned one thing from him
Its my kids will never have to say
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're swaying side to side
You're footsteps make me dizzy
And no matter how I try
I keep tripping and stumbling
if you'd look down here you'd see
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're leading me
Yeah walk a little straighter daddy

The only video I could find with the album version of the song. It's called Saturnus by The Receiving End Of Sirens.
Lyrics:
"I've got this little itch that I never learned to scratch
It seems that even if I had, I'd rather itch than not
When the pleasure is the lesser and it's giving to the pressure
Of an ever growing lust and an always present want
All this is yours so here's your piece of it, your part in it
Clench your jaws
With claws, you'll strangle it, you'll smother it
Damn right, I want nothing to do with this
No part of it
Fight to death to keep it
This mere fondling is mine
(It's the subtlest of snares)
I've cared so much with proving that I've lost all love for proof
An ever growing craving for a quickly fading feel
(It's the subtlest of snares)
I'd trade my soul for a great big hole and a heart too hard to heal
All this is yours so here's your piece of it, your part in it
Clench your jaws
With claws, you'll strangle it, you'll smother it
Damn right, I want nothing to do with this
No part of it
Keep locked your jaws
I hope you choke on it
The craving grows
Fiercer and fiercer it grows
My heart is ringing out of tune
My heart is ringing out of tune
My heart is calling out for you
I'm first to thirst and the last to drink
Of the words I've heard but rarely think
Forget my heart has gone to hell
I have found the well and it's mine, all mine"
I doubt that their intention was to make a song about addiction and recovery, but this is how I perceived it. The first verse is pretty much describing how I feel things, but I'd really rather not so I just keep going to what's comfortable. The chorus is a little harder to decipher, but I see it as how I keep wanting to quit, and even after 7 years I'm still having trouble. The second verse describes just how quickly I went from a caring person to killing everything that was dear to me. The line, "I'd trade my soul for a great big hole and a heart too hard to heal," really hit me hard, because I literally gave up my soul and spiritual principles for a long time. "My heart is ringing out of tune," really describes just how discontent I am with my life as of this moment. The last part is really describing how I'm ready and willing to change my life. "I'm first to thirst but the last to drink," is exactly how I feel. No matter how much I crave, I'm not giving in. "Of words I've heard but rarely think," is how I used to feel about the program of NA but I'm completely ready to give in to it. "I've found the well," means I'm beginning to realize just how my life should be, and it's mine, all mine.

coldplay's "lost"
Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost
Doesn't mean I'll stop
Doesn't mean I'm in a cross
Just because I'm hurting
Doesn't mean I'm hurt
Doesn't mean I didn't get what I deserve
No better and no worse
I just got lost
Every river that I've tried to cross
And every door I ever tried was locked
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off...
You might be a big fish
In a little pond
Doesn't mean you've won
'Cause along may come
A bigger one
And you'll be lost
Every river that you try to cross
Every gun you ever held went off
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the firing stops
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off...
Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost
Doesn't mean I'll stop
Doesn't mean I'm in a cross
