Since no one is answering the other one, why

Does it cost 15 thousand dollars for me to want to get help -before- I end up being drunk and doing something I cannot take back?

I am sorry, but not all of us are judges or people who own electricians etc.

What I am asking, I guess, is why should I scrounge up fifteen thousand dollars if I can get the same non-treatment if I just beat someone up or run a stop light?

Hey Anodyne, I live in the uk so it's a little different here. But AA is the same all over the world and is free.

I can't offer any advice as I am not yet sober but I'm sure there will be someone along soon to give you some direction.

In the mean time keep posting, Bless You, Pixy

Thank you, Pixy, for giving me the basic ideas you just said.

Fact is I have already had a lot of people trying really hard to ger me to ask these questions so that they could tort SR.

I am not sure why, because it is going to lose, except that it might draw attention to places within the us, which it will not, because it is 100% our fault if we have an addiction. We are weak and criminals and undesirables.

Completely 100% our fault, if we had one single drink in the US before we turned 14. very horribe.

Buncha criminals who you are best quickly rid of, is who we are.

I would't say it is anyones fault. Nor do I believe we are criminals that should be rid of.

Not sure what you mean by Tort?

Hope you get some help soon.

Anodyne, perhaps you are not thinking clearly. There are alot of people and programs willing and able to help you with recovery if that is your choice.

Is there any group in your area for treating addictions? My small midwest rural city has an agency with funds for sending people to rehab/detox who otherwise couldn't afford it. You could start your search with the Salvation Army and go from there. Where there's a will, there's a way. Keep looking til you find it! All the best to you!:ghug3

Addiction is not a character defect.

It's a disease.

You can always get free help at a Salvation Army. They have a great program to help addicts.

I have friends who got help via Narcotics Anonymous and by going to their local community hospital. There are ways to detox under supervision... and there are ways to find help.

Many (most?) of the people at an NA meeting have been where you are. They would be a wealth of good information. Those meetings, much like what we do here, are a place where people share their own experience, strength and hope
