Post First Day of sobriety.

HI

I am a first timer on this forum and today is my first day of mission to be sober.

I am a saty at home dad running my own trading consulting biz from home thi sgives me enough and more time to be sneak 5-6 drinks of Vodka a day even without my wife smelling this on my breath.

Earlier I thought i was superman fr my ability to do this. But now I an upto half a bottle of Vodka per day and having memory lapse,

Also i feel guilty of fooling my wife and not being able to spend time fr my 4 years old daughter.

Also With all this I hope to make new friends on this forum in my journey to be a free man.Free from Alcohol.:praying

Hey Sobermallu.

I have only posted a few times on here, but I definitely relate to sneaking drinks, working at home, drinking during the day, and avoiding getting caught. That has been my M.O. for a very long time. I have 7 days of sobriety under my belt (most in a long time) and I am proud of it. It starts with one day, my friend. That's all you need to start a new trend in your life. And life is about momentum. This is what I have learned so far: Shame will keep you hopeless and right where you are: in a downward spiral. Do not fall into the trap of shame. No matter what you have done, there is hope available with support and faith. You do not need alcohol to cope with life. Life is better without it.

Coming here is your first step, you will find plenty of support and encouragement.

Hi sobermallu,

I am self-employed and spend most of the day working alone. This life style has its advantages and disadvantages when comes to getting sober.

I'm new to sobriety also. I's doable.
Welcome to SR

Ed

Welcome to SR mallu!

Congratulations on your second day. Lots of great information here for you. I read all the stickies at the top of each section before I signed onto the forums. So much wisdom and tips on detox from those that have gone before us.

We are here to help. The first days are tough, but they are soooo worth the effort! I'm on day 62 and I love waking up without anxiety, without an upset stomach, and without a foggy head. I have replaced the anxiety with joy. I have replaced the upset stomach with energy to start my day and I have replaced the foggy head with determination to make it one more day!

Keep on keeping on!

Welcome!

I did the Vodka thing too.. I also thought I was hiding it. Ha!

You have a great opportunity to get sober and be there in ALL ways for your sweet daughter, I wish you only the best.

Stick around, it's great here Plus, since you have so much time at home (I know that would be really hard for me!), hang out here... there's so many people all over the world that are here to support you, day or night!

Isn't it stange to hide the vodka. I mean, once my wife started making me feel uncomfortable with drinking in the open, I started hiding it all over the place. I would then sneak off for a gulp or two, and go back to the couch to watch TV. Nobody told me that everyone else was doing this, it just came naturally. I started to hate vodka mixed in a drink. I wanted to feel the heat in my throat. I liked the burn. I came here and found out that a lot of us were hiding a bottle of vodka around the house. I just find it strange that I was doing the same thing as everyone else, even though nobody gave me the "how to's, for drunks" pamphlet.

After your physical withdrawal symptoms go away, learn to meditate... nothing gives me a bigger rush, the euphoria I get from it is stronger than any drug. It's good to take vitamins, but go see a doctor anyway. It'll do you good.

Hi

Glad you have made an effort to do what is right. we have all been there.
Get asponsor, go to some meetings, work the steps, and keep in touch with other recovering addicts for support. That's how you'll make it. Oh, and remember your higher power will take it all in his hands, but first you have to hand it over to him.
