Day 26: Organizing a plan

I am currently in the process of getting myself organized. All aspects of my life are being evaluated as some had taken a backseat and got lost in the shuffle when I was drinking.
Obviously getting myself in better physical shape is a high priority.
Focusing on the positive is way up there as well.

Being organized and having some direction will help me along my path.

That sounds like a good plan, Michael. Taking a good look at yourself and your life is a great way to move forward in recovery.

I have found that having balance in my life, is really important to me, too.

Isn't it amazing how things go to h*ll when you're drinking rather than taking care of life? I look at all the stuff around my house that I have neglected, as well as exercising, etc. It almost puts me in a panic (it did the first week or two). We just have to remember it didn't get like that in a few days and won't get cleaned up in a few days. It takes time and patience and persistence! Hang in there!

Keep it simple, take time to discover what plan will work for you, and try not too have too many expectations.

Glad you're here, and that you're taking positive steps towards your recovery.

I once tried this out, see if it helps you. Take a business card or business card sized piece of paper. Write down 5 things you'd like to accomplish that day. Not for the week, not for the month or a lifetime, just today. Make sure they are something you can do. Don't put down clean and organize entire garage, because that is probably not possible and is too overwhelming to start. Something specific like organize the stack of papers on my desk. As you finish the items cross them off until all 5 are complete. Don't do more than that, just the 5. If you finish by 8am, so be it, you get the rest of the day off. Try it out tomorrow and tell me how it goes.
