I think my kidney infection came back. I had one in July but didn't finish the antibiotics because I was too busy drinking instead.

The doctor's office is closed until Wednesday. My only other option is the emergency room but I don't know if this is emergency enough to visit the ER.

So I can either wait it out until Wednesday or go to the ER but I don't want to run up a hospital bill... and spend hours at the hospital. So I might wait on the doctor's office to re-open on Wednesday.

Not feeling well today.

alchohol effects the ability of antiboidics to work too.

Can you just call your dr office and talk to the on-call dr.??? not sure where your from or your situation

Try drinking lots of cranberry juice in the meantime. I used to get lots of UTIs and they are awful. I hope you start feeling better soon!:ghug3

They don't have an on call doctor.

It's a college student health center and normally they would be open on Monday but it is fall break for the college. So no one is in the office because of fall break.

OK hope...just remember your life is worth more than the cost of an er visit..so use good judgement.

Maybe you could call the hospital and ask them if you should go to the ER?


If worse comes to worse, ask for charity care or a discount.

I will probably go to the ER. If I wait until Wednesday, I'll be sick through the school week probably.

I have to make the best decision for my health.

And I have pain located where the kidneys are. That can't be good.
I'd probably consider that an emergency.

Please see a doctor or go to an emergancy room!
I've had kidney stones and it was the worst pain I've ever experienced. I don't know what a kidney infection feels like but I imagine it would be similar.
If you're worried about the cost then it would be better to get it treated now rather than have to have more treatment because you left it.

Hi Hope,
Glad to hear you are thinking of going to the ER. Does your college health clinic have any instructions for what to do if you have an after hours problem? If so, maybe that would help you get the cost taken care of.

I'm glad I posted this. If I hadn't read these posts, I doubt that I'd be going to the ER today.

Sometimes I just have to hear it from someone else to help me kick myself into doing what needs to be done.

Yeah it's best to go right away when you feel something is wrong then waiting until it flies completely out of hand. I hope you are well and free from illness soon.

Back home and recovering.

Feeling like I got ran over by a truck but I'm on antibiotics now so that is (hopefully) going to take care of it.
