19 days and went to first AA meeting in 7 years
Hi SR friends,
Just thought I'd check in this weekend. I am on day 19 and feeling good :bounce.
Last night I went to my first AA meeting in 7 years. I am so glad I felt comfortable there - it's very close to my home, so I am going to try to make this my regular Friday 8:30pm meeting, as Friday nights are harder than other nights for me, as that was when it was "extra" party time of course.I am also going to look for a meeting to attend one night during the week.
I am thankful to be waking up on this Saturday morning with no hangover, anxiety or guilt. I only wish I would have stopped drinking in my 20's- not my mid-30's- but no use cryin' over split milk, right?
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and thanks for all the support.
Big hugs,
TTGU

TTGU,
Congrats on your 19 days. I am happy for you in finding relief through a meeting. I felt like I was going to explode last night (I did not drink though) maybe I should look for a meeting also. Keep up the good work, stay strong.

Traid,
Thanks for your note.
Even though this web site has helped me in a HUGE way and I will continue to check in daily, I think the in person meetings seal the deal- for me anyhow. Also- try a meeting and if you don't like that particular one, try another- each group is different and you will know in your gut when you are in the right room. All the best to YOU.
Hugs,
TTGU

I went to my home groups meeting today
28 people...all dealing with alcoholism
From 2 newcomers....just beginning
to C. who has 39 years ...the message
of hope and healing was so powerfully evident
As we had the 2 newcomers...we did a Step 1
meeting...
"We admitted we were powerless over alcohol-
that our lives had become unmanageable"
Not a person there had become homeless or an
end stage alcoholic but we could identify in
other ways to losing control over our drinking..
AA meetings? I absolutely agree they are awesome!
Time...Good for you!

Carol and Least- thank you so much.
AA is a wonderful program no doubt Carol and YES Least, waking up each day is at times the most exciting time for me- I say thank you for waking up sober and clear headed and ask for another day of the same- it's such a great feeling to begin each day this way.
Thank you both so much for your notes. Have a wonderful week ahead!! 6
