Newbie here
Hello!
Well yes I am a newbie here as this is my first post, and I am newbie alcoholic. Well that's not true. I am a alcholic that only just recently found out the very hard way that I was.
I am the monster that "normal" people fear. Hence my ID name. I was never violent when I drank. I was just disgusting. And got more disgusting as time went on. I was also very stupid. I didnt learn of this problem until it took loosing everything I have ever had or loved.
I have started going to AA meetings. I of course cant say for how long, and I can not put in my sober date as people can lurk. However, suffice to say I havent missed a meeting yet.
I am glad to be here. I dont think 1 hour a night is going to help me. I look forward to the conversations we will have.
Thanks for having this site. It is a blessing.

Welcome! You'll find lots of good information, experience and help here. There's lots of great people around! If you haven't already, you might want to read the stickies posted above the forum. The more you know about alcoholism, the better prepared you are for a new sober life!

All I know is I want to get sober. All I know is that I didnt have a problem until I hit rock bottom. All I know is that rock bottom sucks worse than living within the gates of hell itself.
So......I need to get a sponser. But how?

They say I have to do it for me. And not for the things I want. They are very phsycological there. I tend to think I am am doing it for a bunch of reasons, including myself, others and all that was taken from me. But because I am so new I think they worry that my motiviations are incorrect.
But we know how the alcoholic mind works. So I dont blame them for thinking that way.

Well, I for one stopped drinking for others..it was only a few months where I started to want to stay stopped for myself.
I would hit up different meetings...I would and hope to think that there's someone out there who will at least sit you down and talk to you about whether you are willing or not..or least spend some time with you to help you to learn about willingness...maybe ask for a temp sponsor?
ps: It's upsetting to me that nobody is trying to help you learn more...try different meetings.

Before looking for a sponsor....I suggest you read
the official AA guidelines for sponsorship.
Most meetings have
"Questions and Answers on Sponsorship"
on their free literature rack.
