Checking in on day 2

Good Morning all,

Well once noon hits I'll have the longest period of sobriety I've had in probably 2-3 years. it's only 24 hours, but it's a start. It's amazing to wake up after a nght of NOT drinking! I'm taking comprol, which im hoping will help wth the urges; hear it takes 5-7 days to become fully effective. I may hit a meeting tonight. My plan was just to go straight home for the first few days; it helps with combat the urge to stop off at one of my hangouts 'just to say hello'. I tell ya....changing a well established lifestyle sucks rocks.

I too found I needed to avoid bars and drinking friends
in early sobriety. It simply made me antsy to go around such.

Yes...I did and do use meetings for my recovery.
They work really well for me.

Keep in focus...you too can find a better future.

Way to go Steve, do whatever you have to do to stay sober. Making changes in our lifestyles is hard but it really is needed for our own well being.

Good job, the first 24 hours is tough but you never have to relive it.

After my last relapse I still have urges but they lessen every day. I just keep telling myself that the 1st drink is what led to my bottom. My 1st and last drink were taken a couple of months apart but the 1st drink is what killed me, because that started the cravings all over again and that led to my last drink.

You can do it. Trying a meeting is a good idea, maybe that can take your mind off of the local pub.

Take it a day at a time and keep posting!
