New! Introducing myself....

Hi everyone.

I've been reading a lot of your threads and decided it was time for me to indroduce myself.

I'm not sure if I am an alcoholic or not, and it really doesn't matter, because I do know I am a problem drinker. I should not be drinking period because of some of the medication I am on.

I don't get drunk a lot, but I drink everyday. Sometimes I'll start the day saying I am not going to today..... but end up doing it anyway (to beat myself up????). I recently went without drinking for 40 days with no problem.... I can't remember what got me started again? Probably a fight with my SO. Anger is usually my biggest trigger.

I was in AA for 12 years, and I don't believe it is the right way for me to go this time, so I am searching out other support.

I do not WANT to drink anymore. Even if it's a drink or two at night to relax. I don't want that crutch and I certainly don't want my liver to go to hell because I am drinking on medication that clearly states not to drink alcoholic beverages.

So thank you for letting me introduce myself. You all seem so supportive and loving. I look forward to coming here and actually posting.

Hi Whisper and welcome, from another relative newbie.

I know what you mean about not wanting to drink, but you've done 40 days sober in the past so you know you can do it!

Thank you headintheclouds! Today is the day I have decided to give it another shot. My SO quit drinking.... he calls it the "Devil's Juice." And I think he may be right!

Welcome to SR Whisper. You will find a lot of support and helpful information. You can do it with AA or without. Find what works for you and stick with it.

Welcome Whsiper. You're right it doesn't matter on the label. If you're not comfortable or don't believe you're an alcoholic - who cares? You have a desire to quit drinking and this a great place to get support to do just that. Welcome!!
