wake up call
wake up call
My best mate called me a bit back asking if I could take his wife to the hospital because she had really bad abdominal pains (she's a well seasoned drinker).
So I flew down in the car (good job I was sober!) and took her to the hospital. She was about 7 hours in surgery because an ulcer had burst in her bowel. I don't know much about these things but apparently it could have been life-threatening.
Sure does make ya think, don't it?

Does it ever. I always am reminding myself of the internal damage alcohol is doing to me, not to mention the anxiety it provokes. No more abusing my body, I want to be around for a long, long time yet.
My ex b/f had the same thing, burst ulcer from drinking. Nearly died. Since then he has been in hospital with bleeding from his oesophagus caused by varicose veins in his throat, caused by blood not getting through the liver or something from drinking damage.
It is like watching someone commit suicide in slow motion. He is also the father of my child and I can't bear my little girl watching her dad do this to himself. All the more reason for me not to drink!
