I need your help please

I've not been here for a long, long time. I've just simply gone downhill.

I'm unemployed now so I can totally devote my days and my nights to drinking my life away.

I have really, really good insurance........Anthem........the best plan they offer.

My question is this.............where do I begin?

Do I start with a doc and ask for the pills that help you not to drink, do I start with AA or do I start with the insurance company?

I'm ready to check in to rehab.......ready to do whatever it takes.

I'm to the point that I drink all day and all night...........crash for a day to get over the hangover and then go do it again.

My life is totally out of control and I need help and I need help bad and I need it now.

I am a drunk.............an alcholic...............I can't help myself no more.......I need someone to help me help me and I want it.

Where do I begin? Please help me!

Love.............Starlite Dawn

PS...........Thank you in advance..............

Gosh. There sure are a lot of people struggling tonight. You are not alone. If you have the time, insurance and the desire to go to rehab I think that be a wonderful gift to yourself for a better life. Welcome to this forum.

As you are drinking so heavily, I suggest you start with
an honest talk with your doctor.
He/She will have information on de tox and treatment centers
and on how to safely stop drinking.

Please do not try to abruptly quit on your own.

Glad to know you are making a new begining
...Welcome back to SR

Personally, I think a trip to the Dr is a good idea. I'm not sure about how long or how much you drank "out there"--but I know I was in pretty bad shape when I quit. During the visit--the Dr. can probably help you decide what to do--and will determine whether or not meds will be needed. If you have insurance and can afford it--rehab is also a good idea--but it is always best to be medically evaluated first by a medical professional whenever possible.

Where to start? Great you have insurance! I would call the rehab center. They can usually set up an intake appointment and deal with the insurance stuff. The rehab can advise you further on what to do next. Call them right now. Here someone is always on duty to take calls and set appointments.

Please keep us posted.

Love,

Lenina

Hon, I'm ready.

As for how long I been drinking and doing this...........I most likely need a new liver. lol

I'm bad and I know it. I've had numerous hurts due to drinking. My latest......a dislocated shoulder.

I've had my nose broke, from a fall, drunk................

I had my face busted all to hell..............fell...........drunk!

Oh, my dear sweet God in Heaven, I need help and I want it. I finally want it.

Thank you ALL for speaking with me this night and helping me.

Exclamation Get yourself some help - NOW!

I'm with BostonLuv.....if you have really good insurance and ready to check yourself into treatment; then do it. This is your life; not a dress rehearsal. Many people get sober with just AA and no treatment program. One doesn't have to check themselves in to get sober. If you don't think you can do it on your own and just go straight into AA every day and not drink between meetings, then go to the treatment center. The deal with that though is, once you get out, you still have to contend with you and go to the meetings and not drink inbetween meetings but it might give you the start you need.

It's a personal call - totally up to you. I sure wouldn't waste any time thinking about the chicken or the egg as each day, each hour that you drink in the manner in which you are is bringing your poor little liver down one notch at a time and closer to death.

Get your butt in gear and GO! Have you called Central Office to see if someone will pick you up for a meeting....or call a treatment center? Don't need to call the doc in order to be admitted.

I'm pulling for ya! I don't want the disease to take another one. A better life awaits you too if you want it

scorpiogirl............I have done nothing more than log back on here. I found this place a long, long time ago and I used this site and I did well for a bit of time.

Now...............I know what I am. I'm nothing more than a drunk and I've tried on my on own, numerous times, to stop and I can't. I fail everytime.

I need help and I want it.

What is this "central office" you speak of? Is this my insurance or is this AA or what?

I am to the point I will do whatever it takes. Rehab............AA...........all combined. I don't care.............just please help me.

I'm lost. I so want to stop drinking, as much as I love it, oh God I do love to drink...........I want to stop so bad.

If I don't.............I will die. I know this.

I believe you can call rehab centers any time. It's been a long time for me but it can't hurt to call now. They used to have intake specialists on duty. If you don't know of a good center, call your local hospital ER and ask. They should be able to direct you.

This is so wonderful for you do! The best thing I ever did was inpatient rehab.

Much love to you!

Oh yes. I checked in through the ER at our local hospital. They took my insurance stuff right away. Started an IV of a "banana bag" with vitamins and hydration. They took my history; don't worry, they've heard it all before! I was given some medications and taken to room for some hours. Later, I was taken to the rehab unit. Detoxed for 3 days, I think and then a 28 day inpatient program.

I was very scared, very sick and shaky. Everyone was very kind to me. I learned a lot about alcoholism and addiction. I met others just like me! It was hard work, no question. But getting healthy again was great. And having the "tools" to stay better is very helpful.

Love,

Lenina

Thanks to you all.............(lisa1235.......*hugs*)

I am ready. I will either do this or I will die. It's come down to this. I truly belive this........I do.

I have a choice right now, at this time, live or die....................my choice.

I choose to live..........at his time I do. I have issues, don't we all. I this not why we drink.............I think it is, but what do I know.

I really belive for me, it's gonna have to be a whole different lifestyle................which means givin' up my man.

I'm ready to do that I am. Otherwise, I will be dead.

I know this...........I do.

So, tomorrow, I call my md and I make an appointment.............right?

I go to him and I tell him just how bad it is...............right?

I do whatever he tells me to do............right?

You tell me...........I'm clueless as to where to begin.

Welcome Starlite

Yes it sounds like a good plan. You can do it and your MD can help you with those first days. Keep posting and take it one moment at a time. Usually folks here 24/7 which is a real help. I dare say we've all been there.

Hang in there! You can do it

Wow, just that simple..............simply tell the lady at the desk that I'm a drunk and I need help....................well, yes, I can do that but a bit embarrasing to me.

But if that is the answer, then yeah, I can do this. If I must. I will.

Hey Hey Sweets...

more then you think you are on the right track!!!! weird as it may seem... you will never stay sober unless you have the desperation that you sound like you have... so congrats for that...

from experience... i tried everything from the here to the moon... and was in my homemade tunnel headed to hell. i can tell you i dont think i would be alive today if i didnt quit 3 months ago... crazy to think about!!!
i tried just going to aa meetings at first... that ended up with me just going there drunk and what good was that.

i ended up making my decision to be sober and thought i should just detox at home and take it from there... maybe go to an outpatient program
it took my body over a week to detox... which i wont lie... that part suck! i shook day and night, had hot and cold sweats constantly, my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. i couldnt eat ANYTHING because i couldnt even stomach water... then after this was all over i went to talk with a counselor at a rehabilitaion center... and they made there doc on site check me out.. he couldnt my heart didnt quit on me...

I REALLY ALMOST DIED... im not telling you this to scare me, i promise!!! only out of care...

see a doctor... to detox in rehab is a really good idea...physically...

i recommend a 30-45 treatment program, it really helps teach you tools to STAY sober, because it is so easy to get sober and go back to it....

then go to meetings... at first i didnt really like them... but now i cant wait to go talk with my new FRIENDS. its the most uplifting hour of my day.

if you ever need someone to talk to... PLEASE let me know...

OH ANOTHER THING THAT HELPED ME WAS READING THE BIG BOOK... TOWARDS THE MIDDLE TO BACK OF THE BOOK THERE ARE A COUPLE PPL'S SHORT STORIES... THAT ARE ACTUALLY KINDA COOL
