First day as a noobie
First day as a noobie
Hi everyone! Just wanted to say hello and get myself introduced to the community. Looking for some support when things get tough, and maybe to give some support as well, and just to talk to people who understand and can have some empathy. Thanks for having this resource here. :ghug2
Welcome! I"m a recovering alcoholic and I can promise you lots of support and understanding among the members here. There are lots of different forums for different subjects and perspectives. Tell us what brought you here. Read and post as you like. Lots of different experience here and lots of the same problems. We help each other get and stay clean and sober. It makes the journey of recovery easier and more fun than doing it all alone.
Welcome!

just curious: does your name have anything to do with Alan Alda's role in MASH? (or Donald Sutherland in the movie version)

Absolutley it does! I'm a huge MASH fan. Wow, a story. I'll give the shortened version, becuase the long version has lots of twists and turns, and there's even some that I'm not even sure about myself. If that makes any sense at all.
Approaching my 2nd year of sobriety and 5 years of being clean (opiate/painkillers). Don't really feel like I'm struggling, more of just sometimes when life gets frustrating, how to deal with it and such. I stumbled upon this site a few days ago just looking for resources. I'm always up for talking to people and I find that people in my social group...well, I'm the only sober one. I know that part of the recovery is to seek out those who will support you in your sobriety. Yet, I find that right now...being alone helps. I can focus on myself and getting my head clear. Sometimes though, it makes it hard to talk to someone when hard times come up...you know? So, I just wanted to find a place where I could talk to people that understood what was going on, and would have some empathy.
Thank you for asking
