OT- New member of the family

This is my son John and his new baby. He's a 5 mo. old Ibizan Hound he got yesterday. Can you tell he's a proud new "papa?"

John did a lot of research figure out what kind of dog he wanted and decided on the Ibizan. It took a while to find a breeder who had puppies. He had this little darling shipped in to VA from NM.

I told him he was crazy spending that much on a dog but he really wanted it. He ended up spending every penny he earned this summer. I still think he's nuts but it's his choice. And the pup is a sweetheart.

Now John is trying to figure out the baby's name.

John was tempted to name him Batman 'cause of those ears.

Apparently his name is Beauregard, Beau for short.

The ears are what caught my attention as well. Never heard of such a dog, (oh pardon me, baby!)

I am such an animal lover. My mother is the president of SPAR (Saving Pets at Risk) so therefore I have 3 rescue dogs myself. One day I'll try to get their pictures on here. Or better yet, I'll have my kids do it.

Yeah, I keep thinking Batdog too.

Beau's eyes are actually a pale yellow green (blame my bad photography skills for the color problems). Very striking. And his shape and size rather makes him look like a small deer.

Unfortunately, I will rarely see Batdog (or my son) for a while. He's back at college and too far away for frequent visits. But that's ok. John is doing great and I'm proud of him. Phone calls work.
