Day 5
Day 5
I don't feel really especially good, or perfect or serene today, but I am clean and sober in my 5th day and I'm simply glad to finally get some days...i haven't had 5 clean days in a row for at least 4 to 6 weeks before now. it feels good just to be not dependent on that lifestyle: my addiction
I'm going through the ups and downs
ups and downs are a good thing. they are a great thing.
I don't and won't have all the answers to my life questions today
maybe never
but today I have a chance
to never have to live a DAY 1 again
or a day 2,3, or 4
today I have a chance to start living an honest, spontaneous, creative, and loving life-- the kind of life that i know nothing about and yet that I dream about.
today I can put down my self pity and lonliness and put myself out there in the world and see how someone else is doing, and try to be equal to them, to be on the same team. to support and understand them in their defeciencies. and to not feel like a worm when they are so way beyond me spiritually or whatever

Congratulations on your five days; you're right, there is absolutely no need to go through it again.
I REALLY like your attitude Keep reminding yourself of the positive aspects of sobriety. Many of us approach sobriety with fear and dread - at least that was my typical attitude for years. I used to think of sobriety as something to be endured, a lifetime of deprivation. In fact, it's turning out to be quite the opposite: there is nothing to lose, and so much to gain: complete freedom to live your life as you please
