Here I go again, about to face another weekend of temptation. Tonight is my good friends annual "Gin and Tonic" party. For the past 12 years this is THE party to attend. Every big wig from most of the big marketing companies around the minneapolis area are here. It's a great place to net-work.
Knowing that I have all of the support I need from you guys, I'm goi8ng to hit this party head on and have fun without drinking, then sober-cab my beautiful wife home to our beautiful kids....

you can do it. I was just talking to my substance abuse therapist yesterday and I told her that I usually go to parties totally sober and don't drink anything but mineral water. and, no, the earth didn't shake because lillfish didn't drink. Nothing happens.

I go to the parties and I even hosted a party recently at a bar where I drank nothing but mineral water.

But, you, know, I've been doing that for years. I want to meet them in a sober state. And here is the rub. I do it that way so they won't know how much I drink in secret at home all the times. I don't meet them drinking because I don't want them to see me how I am when I am drunk.

I lot of my drinking has been all about creating illusions because I have been so terrified of people seeing that I am an alcoholic.

I had a relapse recently but, I am going to AA and finally figured out that I don't know ANYTHING about being an alcoholic but thanks to this site and AA, and my rehab center, I have finally figured out I have SO much to learn.

If you need an excuse, just say you have an ulcer and alcohol inflames it and if you drink you will end up in the ER. It's not a total fib because you could actually end up in the ER, but for a different reason.
