Asking for prayers

that my disability claim is approved soon. I've had no luck finding work I can do and am dead broke and have had one utility shut off already. I know it's a fact that Social Security has a reputation of dragging their feet on determinations, but I'm hoping for God's help in getting this settled quickly.

I am doing very well staying sober but still having a lot of emotional trouble, as well as physical limitations. So any prayers for a quick resolution would be wonderful.

Least, of course, have added you to the prayer lists I belong to.

Now, as to good old SS. It takes perseverance, trust me. If they decline you, fight it. After the 3rd one, you can get an attorney who by law can charge no more than 10% or 5,000.00, whichever is less of your back pay. There are some very GOOD attorneys who do nothing but SS claims so they know the ins and outs.

It got so bad for me, I was threatening (to close friends only who talked me out of it) to go blow up the regional SS office in Albuquerque, lol

In the meantime, check with your local welfare office. They can get you LIHEAP for your utilities, food stamps, and because you have an active claim with SS in some states there is an actual 'cash assistance' that is paid back out of your SS when it comes in. That is what saved me. And I only found out about it when I switched Social Workers at our Income Support (welfare) Offices. The state will usually send you for a 'medical exam' and once that is back you can submit it also to SS.

Also check local churches and Salvation Army. They many times can help with food, and some utilities, and Catholic Charities (doesn't matter if you are Catholic or not) can help with medications.

PM if you want and I'll be happy to pass on everything I learned during my LONG wait for SS approval.

Again, prayers going out.

Love and hugs,

Yeah, I know Social Security is an old governmental dinosaur that moves very slowly but can crush you underfoot! That's why I thought Divine intervention might be helpful.

Laurie, thanks for all your advice. I'm not sure what LIHEAP is but I've already had our local (Ohio) welfare dept's 'emergency assistance' a few months ago for car repairs. That program is only once a year so I don't know if summer utilities would be separate or not. I will call them tomorrow and talk to someone to get some Ohio answers. I am going to be facing eviction soon if I don't get some rent money paid, not to mention that as soon as I can manage to pay enough on the gas bill to restore service, other utilities will be coming due for shut off.

I'm really limited in what work I'm able to do, but despite having applied for the (few) jobs in the paper, have not even been called for an interview for any of them.

So I need some help keeping body and soul together til that ol' dinosaur makes a decision. God forbid I should have to wait thru a lengthy appeal process!

:ghug2

And I've already decided not to drink over whatever should come my way - just for today I will stay sober!

hey S

I think Laurie made some excellent suggestions.

My opinion of course, but you can wait for bureaucracy, or you can be proactive. There's always things you can do. I dunno what LIHEAP is either but I'd be finding out I'd pester the relevant authorities too - a lot.

Same thing with God really - I'm not sure I'd wait for a miracle - remember the story about the guy on the roof refusing all the rescue boats because God will save him?

Good luck tho - I hope things turn out as you wish.
