Sad Day/Happy Day

There are few genuine "heroes" in this life. Even fewer are "famous." Most of my heroes wear cheap shoes.

But one died yesterday. And he became famous. A fame he did not seek.

Last Lecture Professor Randy Pausch, 47, Dies - Well - Tara Parker-Pope - Health - New York Times Blog

I'm not the one to deliver a eulogy for Dr. Pausch. Others will do it elegantly, I'm sure.

So, just a brief remembrance on SR for this incredible man.

If you are familiar with Dr. Pausch, I need say no more. If you are not, you should be. Whiners beware!

Godspeed, Randy Pausch. You taught tens of millions the true meaning of acceptance and gratitude. If this post causes just one person to watch his "last lecture" for the first time, I will have honored him in a way that is appropriate.

Amen, warren. An incredible man with an incredible message. So much gratitude that he chose to share it publicly. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Jomey

I don't know how I missed this, Warren! I have his book, and gave a few of them as gifts for graduation this year. I kept wondering how he was doing, since he lived a bit longer than expected. Thank you! Love, Joanie

Thanks Warrens for sharing that with us. An example of gratitude at it's finest.

I don't know anything about him but I shall watch his last lecture. Who was he and for what was he so well known?

I just looked him up and read about his life and such. He sounds like an amazing person. I will watch the last lecture.

(((Warrens)))

I didn't realize he had died. He was truly a remarkable man, and you're right....we could learn a lot from him and how he lived...and died. The world has definitely lost a great man, but I think he had an impact on so many people, his legacy will live on.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

Thanks for the notice, Warren. I was captivated when I saw him on tv on Oprah. On wikkapedia, this is my favorite highlighted quote from his infamous Last Lecture:

"It's not about how to achieve your dreams; it's about how to lead your life. if you lead your life the right way, the dreams will come to you."

Yep.

He was simply amazing. I watched Making your Childhood Dreams come true this morning. It never hurts to hear a good message again.

He was adorable in so many ways.

I love it when he said he did experience a bedside conversion.
pause...
He bought an Apple laptop.

I was just looking at his book yesterday and talking to someone about it.

I saw him on Oprah awhile ago and he was just amazing. I cannot imagine being as strong and open to life as he was.
