Stepping into the Unknown
From 52 Weeks of Conscious Contact by Melody Beattie
"Isn't that great?" she asked. "You're entering the Unkown. How exciting for you."

I have seen strong women cry and get shaky knees. I have heard brave men admit to feeling a wave of fear and wishing they had their mothers. We stand at the edge. For a moment in time, what we see looks dark. We don't know whether monstrosities loom or whether everything will be fine. People tell us we are guided and to trust in a benevolent plan, but we know that anything can happen.
Take a deep breath. Feel your fear. Then carefully take one step at a time.

Entering the Unknown happens at important junctures in our lives. It can happen when we get sober or begin recovery from something else. It can happen whn we get married, get divorce, or end a career. It can happen later in life, when our children grow up and leave home. Sometimes we see it coming. Other times it happens suddenly and quickly. We're starting over again, and we don't know what to think or expect.
Other cultures honor and revere that mysterious place call the Unknown. Native American culture and Buddhism teach people to beware and be aware of it, becasue facing the Unknown is a powerful time when force are working hard to help us create the new.
