Me, too. I'm on Day Nine and know that you're going through a rough time right now. Just remember that you don't have to do these first few days ever again!!! Keep adding on days....which you CAN do!!...and it will only get easier!
What's happening? Are you having a hard time today? Please let us know....you'll be surprised how much the people here want to help! I would never have made Day Nine without them.

Katz, I'm no expert but it is my understanding that AA says that you can have whatever belief that you have...doesn't have to be to a "god" per se, either.
I gave myself a LOT of excuses why I didn't want to go to AA. Day Nine now and my brain is clearing a bit. I realize that my ADDICTION didn't want me to go to AA! Don't think for one moment that your addict brain isn't plotting ways to keep you in the bottle! IT doesn't want you in AA.
Give it a chance, or try some other forum/group to keep sober. The important thing is your sobriety, though, so make sure you do whatever it takes to keep sober.
Wishing you only the best!

AA is not a cult. Its about working 12 simple steps. David Koresh. Now that was a cult. Jim Jones. Its not for everyone. Works for me though. But its cool, Im just glad your here at SoberRecovery.
I'm not sure what you're asking Katzndogz, but I think you will find that people here use AA, as well as other methods of recovery. Whatever works for you is great.
Here's a link to recovery programs:

Katz, when the AA group that I go to does the group prayer type stuff, I just stand quietly. You don't have to join in...that's not the important part. People on here have said, "take what works for you and disregard the rest". Don't listen to the "higher power" part if you don't want, but DO listen to the stories that these people are sharing with you and the advice they may have. Don't get caught up on the "religious" aspect that you think AA has. Heck, if nothing else, just being around people who value sobriety is important all by itself!

The beauty of the spirituality of AA is that it is not a cult or religion, it is simply 12 steps that give us that ability to live life with wisdom to know how to treat others and ourselves and the world.
When I pray in AA, it is as I PRAY not as others pray, I work my program, you work yours, and others work theirs, it is unique for every individual. There are no religious requirements, the only requirement is the desire to stop drinking, and that seems to be what you are desiring today, may you stick around and find your program as well.
Having 2 days sober is a good thing, I too have just today, no mattter how long I have been in recovery, a new day begins, and just for today I am sober, one day at a time.
