Packed up the stemware!

Well I have packed up my stemware and its advertised for sale on Craigslist. A box of stemware for $20! If it doesn't sell I'll donate it to our thrift store. I am finally putting that lifestyle out of this house.

I found a great neighbor that has 2 alcoholic daughters and she's had to distance herself from them because they are actively pursuing their disease. She will do anything to help me and so she's my 911 call if I need one. I have ordered a book from Amazon called "A Woman's Way Through the Twelve Steps Workbook." I also have a great friend friend from SR and she and I are going to do the workbook together.

I am actively pursing this new lifestyle and I hope others will also. A good friend who has MS said something interesting to me. She said alcoholism is worse then MS because she doesn't crave something that will kill her like an alcoholic does. She tries to live healthier so she will longer. Talk about scared straight.

Have a great day everyone and let's stay sober just for today!!

It sounds like you have a plan and a great support system in place!

....I divided my glasses into sets of 6
gave them as presents to my drinking friends.

Sold the bar and bar stools to a neighbor.

I'm a non drinker and so who needs the acessories?!!

Good to know you are making solid progress...

Thanks Carol and Anna - I don't have complete sets of anything. Broke too many whilst I was drinking. You know they slip from your hand. How pathetic! I agree about not needing the accessories.

I guess I'm just too frugal to have done anything like that...the Scottish heritage, you know.

What I did was find ways (other than alcohol) to use them: wine glasses for whipped cream topped jello or pudding; cocktail glasses for shrimp cocktail; shot glasses for displaying decorated Easter eggs (the Ukrainian side); beer mugs for ice-cream floats. What few were left when I moved this last time were dispersed among the kids.
