Red face Re-Hab Community

Here's the pitch....

If I were to come into some windfall of money (lottery...some distant aunt that would leave me oddles of money...) I would start a rehab community.
The homes would be under a 100 square feet of living space (yes...this can be done...saw it on TV) and there would be services available to the person in need and their family.
The homes are not grand...but a place to sleep eat and clean up. There would be child care and activities while the parent or parents were in therapy. The therapy for the adults would include a workshop to build stuff...like more homes for those in need. Kinda like a lil commune.
This could be done....and with sooo many in need at desperate times...a really good idea.
This is my dream in giving back....and the first time I ever wrote about it.
I hope someday I can figure out how to do this. It takes a village.
If you are reading this and in need of this kinda break....hang in there...I'm working on it...one day at a time.
PEACE for ALL!

Awesome Idea! And it CAN be done.
I have a friend who started a community for parents who lost a child, or children who lost a sibling. The people do not live there full time, but do stay as long as needed. They have counselors and activities for grieving etc.. Make a wish foundation is on board as well as other big corporations like Disney.
I love your idea Lilbit!

Maybe it's time to brush up on my fundraising skills????

((Lilbit))

I think it sounds like a great idea! Isn't it neat when we start thinking of how to give back, after (for me) years of thinking "how to get more"?

Most of the greatest things in the world started as someone's idea.

Hugs and prayers!

lilbit my wife and I have spoken of doing something similar when we retire, for now being a sponsor is my way of giving away what was so freely given to me to where I can keep what I have. At first the idea of giving something away in order to keep it made no sense to me, how can I give something away in order to keep it? Today I understand and find a true purpose and meaning in my life with unimaginable spiritual rewards.

I am still amazed how high my heart soars when something good comes to some one I am working with, it is as though I am the one receieving what they have gotten. The simple smile and twinkle in the eye of one of my sponsees is worth more to me today then all the riches in the world.

I have found no better nor rewarding way of staying sober then helping others to get and stay sober.

I know it sounds crazy to some...but THIS can be done...I just know it...already started to make some phone calls.
With shows like Extreme Makeover (home edition...I had some artwork donated to a family in Jacksonville, FLA) it's about time...like think of New Orleans...and the stooopid trailer tragedy.
I really wanna do this...
