Alcohol induced stomach pain-scared!
Alcohol induced stomach pain-scared!
Hi,
I don't really know where to turn-I have hit a new bottom for myself. After years of sobriety I began drinking again 2 months ago-almost daily now. I had a really bad binge a couple of days ago. Ever since then I've had severe upper abdominal pain. Not a hangover or any flu symptoms -just pain. I cannot go to the doctor-nobody knows I have been drinking.
Has anyone experienced this and will it go away pretty soon if I don't drink?? It is very painful and I cannot hide it much longer-the pain is interfering with my ability to function or eat.
This is scaring me worse than any blackout or hangover ever did-I cannot imagine that 2 months of drinking could make me this sick.

Welcome to SR.
I'm sure that others will come along to share with you. The only thing I can advise you is to talk to your doctor. There are many reasons why you could be having this stomach pain, but you doctor would be able to help you best and being honest with him/her will get you the best treatment.

Hi and Welcome,
Obviously we can't give medical advice of any kind of this message board.
If you can't go to your own dr, go to a walk-in clinic or something like that. Please seek help.

If you had not been drinking would you go to a DR with symptoms like these?
This may have nothing to do with your drinking but it does not sound like something you can afford to ignore.
I know you're scared but be brave and get it checked out ASAP.
Agreed, if it is really bad, come clean and get help, A walk in, or minute clinic might help you will feel better for it in the long run. I've had similar pain when I drank straight out of the bottle. not a great feeling. Now that I've stopped drinking, the pain is gone..

I loved SoBearish's question. If you weren't drinking would you see a doctor for the pain?
Because I today I would see a doc about anything close to that kind of pain. When I was drinking? Nope....
Please , go find out what it is, even if you just go to a generic clinic!

Thank you everyone for your advice. I should have gone to the Dr. But didn't. Anyway, I am doing much, much better today and have not had a drink since I got so sick. I was praying for willingness to get sober and I think my prayer was answered. I have a lot of willingness today.
Now I just have to get back to a meeting and try to get along with my husband (he's sober) an AA junkie-Big Book Thumper-MR. SPONSOR of the county. Sounds like some resentment huh??
It is hard living with a "perfect" AA member-especially after a relapse. I haven't been able to tell him yet. I cannot stand up to the ridicule or scrutiny he'll put me under. At one time I had more "time" than him-so he really likes to rub it in my face.
Anyway- I know I need to focus on myself and my recovery or I'll end up drunk again. I cannot imagine how I could go through the stomach pain again that I had-I would have to go to an emergency room. I got lucky that I was on vacation by myself at home and just rode it out (and didn't die).
