Rad is having her appendix out
I know this is a very small thing, but would love it if you would keep her in your prayers. Today she is 14 months clean, I hope she doesn't have a prob with pain meds after. Thanks guys.
((((helpus)))
Hugs and prayers coming for you and RAD. I've had to take pain meds a couple of times, during recovery (teeth pulled) and my dr. is aware of my addiction, so I was only given a small amount.
When we get into recovery, we can be just as determined to STAY in recovery as we were in avoiding it when we were using.
I hope she discusses this with her dr., but even if she doesn't, she can stick close to her support people and be okay.
Hugs and prayers!
Amy

Helpus,
So glad your daughter is home and well! Did they give her pain medication to take home? My son (addicted to oxys) voiced a concern about someday needing knee surgery and his fears on pain meds. I am curious as to what a patient with addictions can take in this situation. Jody, maybe you know this answer as well.

She is just taking advil & tylenol. The Dr's did tell her that what they do for an addict is give the smallest amount of narcotics nessesary only if needed. They can tell by her blood pressure & monetring her other vitals when coming out of surgery if it would help. When discharging her she was asked if she thought she could manage on just the advil & tylenol. She said oh yeah. For her the worst part was the IV. She said it creeped her out. She used to be an iv heroin user.

I'm glad things went well and good for your daughter for deciding on the advil and tylenol.......Sounds like she's certainly on the right track. Life can be good at times and it looks like its that way in your house now...Smiles, Bonnie
Coming in late but keeping her and you in my prayers. Good for her, giving the advil a try. So fortunate too that the new surgeries for appendix and gall bladder are the tiny incisions. 20 years ago the incisions were huge and 5 -7 days in the hospital.
May she bounce back in no time at all! Get some rest, mom.
