Hey, Im new here.
Greetings everyone. I don't want to bore any body with another sob story, although I don't think mine is one(not yet anyhow). I am 23, I have been drinking pretty consistently and heavily for 2 years. Ive lost my license, quit grad school, and generally hurt relationships with those I love the most. I am not violent or abusive, and have a binge wait cycle. I drink 1-2 times a week, lately it has been a liter of whiskey each night. Regardless of all the preaching, no matter how well intended it was... it never made me want to clean up. The constant blackouts and 3 day hangovers are making me come to this decision on my own, as well as the family and friends that I remember I still love when the fog wears off.
In about a week I get my full license back, and I refuse to ever lose it again. The remainder of this week is my last hoorah, and I am determined to not even make it that. Just a few beers and calling it quits. I am going to be traveling around and seeing the sites with my best friend, who also has a taste for the drink. He has a family on the way and I want to be a source of strength for him so that his marriage and new family get a good and sober father/spouse out of the deal. Anyhow, I probably wont be too active on here until this trip gets over. Wish me luck.

Why even drink the last few beers, why not just stop now? Best of luck on your trip and I hope to hear from you when you get back.
