say hello to everyone.
i'm brand new to this forum site and didnt want to be a stranger.
i'm only 17 years old i havnt had a personal addiction but i'v been around addicts my whole life. my mother is a recovering heroin addict and my father who has passed had a drinking problem and was a heroin addict. if i could be help to anyone i'm always here to listen.being so young i am faced with drugs and drinking everyday with my friends.i hope some of you can help me too :]

nice to meet you, maggiemay. i'm the mom of an alcoholic/addict, so i understand your pain. have you tried alanon meetings in your area? they really help me.
remember this about your loved ones' addictions:
you didn't cause it.
you can't cure it.
you cannot control it.
you do have choices as far as how you allow it to affect your life though.
there's a friends and family section here to post on as well, if you haven't found it yet.

thank you guys so much.i'm looking forward to being here and sharing my experiences with you.i hope maybe it'll help someone out.i have been through a whole lot in my life and it has only made me stronger.i have been to meetings and it does help.right now with working and getting my life together it's tough to do anything for myself so i havnt had the chance recently to get out there.

Welcome to the site Maggie May! I'm an alcoholic in recovery trying to repair the damage I've done to my daughters in the last 14 months. I welcome any insight you have into living with addiction. I'm glad you're here.

oh least i respect you so much for that.i know first hald that it's tough having a parent with a few problems but there isnt anything you cant do to make things better just keep working at it:]i'm here to support you when you need it :]your daughters are very lucky dont forget
