New Relationships and Fear
I had a wonderful psuedo-date the other night, pseudo because we just found ourselves together in an undefined way. Someone I've known for a year and liked immediately, but I only see maybe once a month due to distance. We had a wonderful time, we clicked amazingly. No drinking at all! She clearly is not an A.
Weird thing is, she asked me about my dad and how he passed away, and I said firmly that he was an alcoholic. Now this is the truth, although there were other factors (lung cancer) but I surprised myself that I just came out and said that. I'm now questioning my bluntness and have concerns about scaring her off.

If being yourself scares someone away, they're not the right one to begin with. The best relationships are the ones where both people are completely honest and free to be who they really are. Unfortunately, many times we settle for a lot less.

You're right. I can say for certain that I was very much "me" that night, so that's a victory!
There's a voice in me that still wants to put on a show, act the way I think the other person wants, and I have to talk back to it and dispel that idea.

This is a victory. Celebrate and do a little dance. Yes.....sometimes I actually do a little jig when I have those little victories.
Heck......picture me......I'm doing a little jig for YOU!
Congrats and gentle hugs!
