I'm addicted to pain killers

I'm addicted to hydrocodone and I need help. I'm new to this site and I've been reading some of the threads and I hope that you guys can help me through this.
I have chronic pain in my shoulder. I have a rotor cuff tear and my deltoid is completly gone. (unfortunatly surgery cant replace a deltoid) I have been addicted since 1995 and I really want to stop but it is so easy to get meds. that I just keep on and on with them.
If I have 90 hydrocodone pills theyre gone in 5 days.
I don't know how to stop. Theres not really a great rehab in my area so I'm hoping that I can get help here.
I take anything I can get my hands on for pain and when I was prescribed meds I failed the drug tests because they found other pain narcotics in my system so now I just buy them. If I have them I take them If I dont have them I go hunt for them. When I dont have them, the withdrawls are terrible so I go out and hunt for them.
This is the first time i've even realized that I have a problem.
Please give me advice I will listen even if it is harsh.

Welcome to SR tragicuser! Glad that you found us Sorry
that you are going through this pain...please know that you have
come to the right place!

Please check out our "Substance abuse forum" and the stickies at the top-
there is a wealth of information here and a lot of others willing to share their
expierence, hope and strength!

IMHO can you call your doctor possible and discuss this problem with the doctor? Maybe the Dr. might have some suggestions as well-

Keep posting and we are glad you have come here

hey tragicruiser -

welcome to SR!

I hope you'll check out the stickies at the top of the Substance Abuse forums , and you might as well go on over to the newer 'Recovery and Pain Management' forums as well.

I had a 'slight' oxy problem when I sobered up almost two years ago, I can't really adivse you because I don't know what pain was related to what since I quit everything all at once.

But I know what you're talking about with the 90 pills and five days thing.

I also know that, while you might not have a clinic in your area - there's GOT to be an NA or even an AA center - those are the people in your area to find as well as of course the Medical community ....

You'll find that the NA people are about the most 'connected' people in the world for what you're talking about - and please remember to share with US what you learn about your own pain management down in the PM forums as well.

Again - welcome to SR .

You aren't alone.
