Hi I'm Redbear and I'm a drug addict
you are the first people i have admitted that to...I have been going on and off for years and now i just want to go a day and night of...no mind plays with myself...and I have not drank in many years, but that thirst is coming back on me, why?
I do not have the courage to walk into my local NA meetings. I tried, I walked around the block like 5 times and then chicken out. I have been to Alanon because my AH but I had to get my head out of my butt and look into my own problems. I remember my first open speaker meeting for an AA group and when the chairperson asked if someone needed a 1 day chip, a man stood up and said "i'll take one of those" I want to be that brave? Admitting you have a problem is a big first step. I suspect that the craving to drink is returning because of your drug use. I think whenever our guard is down, as it is when you use drugs, our addictions can flourish. I find that I have to be careful about being over-tired.
I am not an AA/NA person, but I know that it works for many people. Do whatever works for you and I hope you keep posting here.

Welcome redbear! My name is DeVon, and I am a recovery addict/alcoholic. The hardest thing I ever had to do was walk into a meeting, and all I could do was hang my head in shame.

Admitting is the first part of the journey, but what a journey it is!!!!
