Up From the Mat
Up From the Mat
Hi Everyone,
Thanks in particular to Dean, Mattcake, and Warren for checking in on me. I've been away because I've relapsed. Today, I'm dragging myself up from the mat. I'm really grateful to have a place (SR.org) to come to, and even more grateful to have friends looking out for me.
I hope everyone is well!

Please do whatever it takes to achieve sobriety, and don't leave 5 minutes before the miracle happens. It does work!
Thanks everyone for your support. It really means a lot to me... I just got back from an AA meeting. It reminded me that recovery is both really simple and really difficult! The speaker at the meeting was younger than me, and she was very inspiring... I'm feeling lousy today. But alive!... I'm going to focus on doing the next right thing. Being here at Sober Recovery is one of those things.
I'm really glad you're back to. I met a friend from my old AA group yesterday (he is a lawyer and is going to handle some legal issues I have). He was updating me on all the people from my group, since I haven't been there in 3 years, when I moved 2 hours away. He said "remember ----", I said "yeah, how's he doing" and he said "his funeral is in 3 hours". Damn, that was a very real reminder of the reality of alcoholism.
Hugs and prayers!

Ahhh, NM!!
I howled at the coyotes last night and one of 'em took me seriously!
Welcome back, friend. Leave the shame, guilt, and pity at the door.
So we begin wherever you are. That's cool. You're alive and not so well. We'll work on that.
