Update and Prayer Request
The latest on my AS is that he was moved to a community work center about 6 weeks ago and he got a job last week! He is excited to be working- he is working in town in an inside sales position. Last Friday night he called me and said he had set a new record for best first week- he sold more than twice what the owner had set as his goal. I am not surprised- I have been telling him for a long time to use his powers of persuasion in a positive way instead of the other way so look what happens when he takes my advice! Things are going well- he does have a pre board hearing next week- please say a prayer that it goes well for him please!
Now for my other prayer request. This one has nothing to do with addicts but I know that the power of this board is magical. There is a little girl who attends school with my best friend's kids and she was diagnosed with cancer a little more than a year ago. She has had many challenges in the past year- and she is currently facing another one. She is currently undergoing chemo- even though she was declared cancer free because this cancer is particularly awful if it comes back later. Anyway, she got sick last week- with pneumonia and meningitis and she is terribly sick. The doctors aren't at all sure she will survive this- please pray for her- her name is Sarah.

Hello, I am new here ( just started visiting a few days ago) I am glad to hear good news around here and see there is hope for everyone. I will be sure to put the little girl in my prayers, children don't deserve to feel pain like that.

Of course he's a good salesman. My son's worked in sales
before (it's been a few years) and he did awesome.
I'm happy to hear he's doing well. Prayers that the hearing
goes well in his favor.

There's nothing worse than a child suffering and sick.
It tears me up. I just wanna hug and hold them all and take
away that hurt. So sorry for her parents, too. I can't imagine
the heartbreak and fear they have. So many, many, prayers
going out to all of them today.

My prayers go out for little Sarah and those who love her. May God have special blessings for this child.
And that's wonderful news about your son. It's amazing what they can accomplish when they use their energy and focus on something healthy.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate your prayers for David and Sarah. David is doing well- and he definitely seems more mature and stable. Several years ago, his recovery counselor told us that adolescent addicts have a dramatic change after 18 to 24 months of abstinence from drug use- he said it isn't easy to explain but when you see it in your child, it is truly miraculous. He has been off meth for about 21 months- and I do see a difference- and it becomes more definite all the time.
As for Sarah, her family's story is so sad- she is the only girl and after she was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2007, her mom became pregnant and gave birth to another boy early this year. I don't personally know her but my heart goes out to her- a new baby to take care of and a very sick child in the hospital, not to mention the other 3 boys she already has. I know G*d doesn't give us more than we can handle but sometimes it is hard to understand, isn't it?
