Just found and Registered on this site

Just saying hello. My daughter is an alcholic. She and our grandson are living with us "for the time being" but we are pushing 4 years now. She has just come out of re-hab for the 2nd time in 8 months. She is working very hard on her 90/90 and committed to achieving sobriety........................and of course we so hope....................but its scary isn't it. Husband and I go to a Group therapy session every week for families of the addicted. Today I am going to try and go to Al-anon, been before but it pulls me down not up.

Wishing you all a Good Day and a Good weekend.:ghug

Hi Jozi,
Seeing that I am also from Joburg, please feel free to contact me should you need any local advise, I have found a bit of info what is available in SA and am happy to be of help if I can.

I found an Alanon meeting which I did not like and am going to another one. It is worth trying out different ones as one seems to fit a person but not another. Have you heard of Toughlove? It is for parents with kids problems no matter what. Check their website if you wish.
Also Open AA meetings may help you? I liked the one I went to

Welcome to this site. I also came here recently and though initially that it pulls me down, it helps me a lot and I enjoy the comfort of so many wonderful people around here and the great insights I am getting and what I am learning. Also you may want to read the other forums for insights of the addicts.
Take care of yourself and feel free to PM me

Way to go on working your own program. That is probably the single most important thing you can do for someone else's sobriety...that being working on your own well-being.

Good luck, and continue with those Al-anon...they might need you to cheer them up, so their not such gloomy meetings!!

The Cartel.

Welcome Jozi-from another parent
It is important when we have our grown addicted kids at home not to get consumed by the situation. There is a lot of support here and I am sure you have lots to offer too.
Please stick around.
I know what you say about al-anon. I've gone for 5 yrs. now. But some mtgs. can be a downer. Overall however, working the steps transformed my life.
