Hello!!! I'm New

Hi everyone. I'm new here, but I used to post frequently on another recovery forum-WQD (Wequitdrinking). However, I had major problems with the politics there. Unfortunately, WQD has a real rigidity of thinking that, to me, bordered on the cult-like. But they were very helpful in providing me with resources to read up on.

I've also attended about three AA meetings in the past year, not because I necessarily want to go through the twelve steps, but because I always end up not wanting to drink after leaving a meeting. I've also read the Carr and am familiar with RR and other quit methods.

I've not had a drink in two months-but really I have trouble sustaining quits longer than 3 or 4 months.

Eroica, welcome to the forum!:ghug I've found this site to be very helpful to me. I have a place to go, a safe and loving place, when I have cravings for alcohol or questions about recovery. Keep coming back!:ghug

Welcome to SR! There are a lot of AAers here (myself included), but there's lots of diversity in terms of how people here chose to quit. SR has proved invaluable to me in trying to quit.

Congrats on your two months!

Welcome, Eroica!

You found a great place at a great time. Having time under your belt and a great attitude gives you an advantage. It should come as no surprise that AA has a great influence, but respect is given here to all genuinely trying to help and be helped. Even some who are not.

What a wonderful name! Italian for heroic, and title of one of my favorite Beethoven Symphonies! Very apt for someone surpassing addiction.

Hope to see you often!

Welcome Eroica

You post sounds vaguely familiar. Have you been here before?

Sugarspun,

No I haven't. It's my first day!

Warren,

Yes, my name refers to Beethoven's symphony! Music teacher here.

I just knew Beethoven was in there somewhere!! Music, playing and loving it, runs in my family. Daughter of a violinist and mother of a bassoonist!! If it weren't for music I would be lost!

Welcome Eroica. I'm new here too. There is a wealth of information on this forum. It's helping me figure things out and giving me so much hope. So, I hope it does for you, what it's doing for me.

Best wishes,

Kathy
