Hi, I am new

I am about 6 months sober and new to this forum. I want to thank everyone for posting. I find this site helpful when I can't sleep. I am getting to a point in my recovery that I am feeling "wore out" meetings, therapy, stepwork, talking to other members of the program, morning meditation and prayer....I am told that the first year of recovery is pretty hectic but then the slogan "easy does it" pops into my head. I am not griping, I would not trade this current lifestyle for the chaos of my drinking life!

Welcome kari and congratulations on six months sober.
The first couple of months SR helped keep me focused, now I think it helps me be a bit more of an understanding person. I find I am busier now than ever, but also like you I wouldn't change that. Good luck with all the hard work and the sleepness nights, best wishes.

HI Kari - Welcome to SR and congratulations on your sobriety! I am also at about six months sobriety and I feel that even though my cravings to drink are very few and far between, I still have a lot of "recovery" left to accomplish and it IS tiring. I'm gathering from your post that you are working with a sponsor - have you discussed the "hectic" feeling with her?

I have found that typical mom multi-tasking works for me on particularly busy days. My kids are old enough that we can pray in the car together as I drive them to school, or I will listen to a CD of the rosary and join in on my way back. I have written out a step on the top of a piece of paper and put it in my pocket - as I go through the day I would write down any thoughts or feelings I had about the step and then organize them more clearly after the kids are in bed. Those kinds of things can be helpful to me - maybe worth a try?

Glad you are here! Jomey

thanks Jomey....Yes I talked to my sponsor about this and I guess I forgot to mention that part of this "merry go round" experience is my 2 small children! I try to get up early to get a jump on my day which helps. It is all a balancing act which is part of life weather we are in recovery or not.

I understand...I have 3 boys under 12 and as you said, it's a whirlwind with them! Did your sponsor have any advice? I would love to hear suggestions. Keep in touch - Jomey
