Hi Blacksh33p -

Welcome to SR!

We're a community of recovering alcoholics and addicts who use out computer time fo offer and ask for support and friendship during different stages of becoming sober.

wow.
that was a mouthful.

We've got different forums - alcoholism, drug addiction, mental health issues ... feel free browse around, read all the posts and threads you wish - at the tops of most of the forums are what they call 'stickies' ... in those threads are FAQ informations as well as links to local or national recovery programs, alternatives, and that kind of thing.

I hope you'll ask questions as they come up, and hope that helps ya!

Hey Blacksh33, welcome to SR. I second what Barb said. Personally I have found this place to be a great help in my recovery. I can honestly say that I would not be approaching sobriety in the same manner if it were not for the people on this site. Give it a try, read, write, encourage, be encouraged, share your experiences, learn from others experiences, etc. Glad you found us, keep coming back.

Welcome! Great community here @ SR

Anything is possible if we want it bad enough. Took me a while to get that, but I feel I am willing to go to any length to achieve and keep my sobriety.

Listen, read, and don't trust your own judgement over someone who has been sober allot longer than you!

Welcome to SR BlackSh33p,
the replies so far must give you a pretty good idea. If you want people to understand what you are going through and to offer endless support this is the place, best wishes.

Welcome to SR!

I don't think that this site alone can help anyone recover. It is a great tool for recovery and can help you find out what works and what does not work in recover. SR puts you in contact with a group of people who are in various stages of their lives and through various circumstances, came to this site to address their substance abuse problem and/or addiction. Most are in recovery, some are not, and some are just trying to find out where they fit in.

You might want to think about what brought you here in the first place. Try sharing a little bit in a forum. Based on what you tell us we can provide further insight from our experiences. The more honest you are, the more beneficial the feedback. Remember, this is like any computer program, the garbage in, garbage out principle does apply.

Thank you for your 1st post and I look forward to reading more.
